I've seen those albums for years Steve. There occasionally is someone still trying to sell them as hand signed. Do you know how they were represented as hand-signed in the fifties? I guess I'm asking if there is an existing copy of the ad or offer someone might have to share.
I'm not trying to start an argument but I would have figured Sam Phillips would have been behind that kind of thing. The more contentious this gets the more careful I want to be about what I believe as fact such as JJL personally representing stamped signatures as genuine. Regarding the more recent stamps, I don't have a problem with him or another celeb using them unless they are charging and calling them hand-signed.
What's wrong with arguments?
The offer was announced on "The Dick Clark Show." According to Wikipedia, 48,000 requests came in, so while Phillips was behind all of JLL's promotion back then, I can't imagine Jerry Lee Lewis didn't know about it.
I don't see much difference whether a performer personally represents something or their promotors do, as long as they know about it. Whether it's them, their promotors or insiders, the the buck stops at the performer. And the results are the same.
Here's what Wikipedia says:
I didn't delete anything either... just to weigh in here.

Agreed.
I'd be happy to wait in line and hand JLL $100 to get an album signed. But, after all this drama I wouldn't pay a dime for anything I didn't see him sign myself. Maybe he should try his luck selling VIP tickets to his shows. Unless he's only going to offer pre-signed items, of course. Which at this point, is probably exactly what would happen. So, uh, nevermind.
I deleted a few of mine because I didnt like seeing some of my replies posted on that 'other' autograph website.
AGREED - that is why I am actually holding back on some of this.

Why would you guys be concerned with what "they" have to write?
