What do you think about this Joe DiMaggio autograph I picked up? It comes notarized and is one of only 56. Are you convinced it's real and what would you estimate its value?

Thanks for looking

I'm looking at the photo close up and it looks like it's printed. And a similar look to the witness signature. But maybe it's the image quality. Jackson, can you upload a better image of the sig and witnessing?

Do these help? Thanks

Terrier and Zipper know these much better than I do, but I still feel the signatures are printed. The gold numbering and trim were added afterwards. Look at the skipping in the lower left black border around the DiMaggio under the gold. It's similar to what's seen in Joe's autograph.

I thought maybe the autographs were rough because of the paper, but the gold numbering and trim are smooth and skip-free.

Steve, you could be right. when I said the signature is legit, I meant the style is correct. I really cannot tell if its printed by looking at the photo.  but this format is used quite a bit, as Zipper said, on Mantle's, and I have seen Yastrzemski's and other HOFers with the same presentation.  but it is virtually impossible to determine this from a photo. I would think Jackson would be in the best position to tell if its printed. if it is indeed a penned signature, then it is an authentic DiMaggio, in my opinion.

Agreed.

The image is small, but here's an example of one sold by American Memorabilia in 2005. Most obvious is the blue ink of the notary's signature, but DiMaggio's autograph is also in a different ink than the black of the rest of the piece:

Thank you Steve, that is helpful. It's definitely not a reprint as I can feel the indention of the pen. What do you guys think it's worth, assuming it is a real DiMaggio?

Jackson,

I think you need to have this looked at by someone who is likely to have seen several before, in person. Richard Simon would be a good person to ask.

Yours still looks printed to me, so I'm surprised you can feel the signature. The piece from American Memorabilia sold for about $135 in 2005.
