FYI, previous thread here:

John Mellencamp and Bastille - Autograph Live (autographmagazine.com)

looks like another small re-stock, 9 currently remaining

Ty got one

I bought one of the Strictly cds from Newbury. An acquaintance of mine who works for a third party authenticator said it is a secretarial. I looked on eBay, and while there are TPA certified examples of the signed cd booklet, there are very few.

Has anyone submitted one of these booklets to a TPA? What was the verdict? Does anyone else consider them to be secretarial?

Thanks in advance.

Would you mind sharing which 3rd party authenticator you acquaintance works for? I have long considered the newbury cd signatures to be a good example but only because of other examples where the owners claimed they were in person (more than just a few).. I will look into his more to be sure over the next few days but would love to hear others thoughts on this as well.

Very quickly, I found a link from 2013 where he signed a bunch for charity.. while this doesn't prove it isn't secretarial, there are signed handwritten lyrics as well that it could help in determining if this signature is authentic. Ill post the link and the lyrics below

Personally I believe the Newbury's are authentic. If he had someone else signing them they have been doing it for a long time since I have other older autographs and they all seem to be the same. As for the authentication companies it wouldn't be the first time they have got it wrong. The examples Jason posted look like everything I have got over the years.

Yes, I believe it as well but I still have yet to find one I know 100% for sure was signed by him. I have found a few of this version that have been authenticated. Here's one by PSA

Plus the fact that there would have been an uproar on here if they were fake. They have sold a ton of these and at this point someone would have called it out. I think everyone who bought them is comfortable with them being real.

I would definitely trust Newbury. I had a pre-order for a signed Jelly Roll CD and after they sent them out, Newbury learned that the item was not actually signed by the artist, but by the staff. They then sent me an email owning up to such and apologizing; refunded me the money paid promtply. I feel the items they get are going to be as authentic as it can be without seeing it done yourself.

Thats a good point. Newbury is awesome.. but there is always the possibility they are clueless as well. Im going to keep researching until im 100% certain. Im not yet satisfied. In this hobby, its either real or its not. There is no middle ground. You either know for sure or there will always be someone years later with another claim this is secretarial and screw up everyones opinion. I want to be certain without a doubt before moving forward. If anyone has an in person example like this, please share

This was signed by John in front of me at a signing back in 1998. Though that was 24 years ago, I believe the style is in line with the signed cd's. I have no doubts that the signed cd's from.Newbury are authentic
