My mistake - I was accidentally looking at the same thing.

???

I was looking for a stamp as some of these are and had two windows open. This is a fine hand signed example.

This looks fine to me.  Signed during the '52 British tour?

Exactly.

My grandfather went to see them - didn't take his kids, though!

That would have been magical.   Even though they were hitting rough times by that point career wise and health wise, the Brits continued to take them into their hearts.

What did you make of that fairly recent film about the tour?

I liked it.  I think it was quite well done by all involved.

It worked for me as a dramatization focusing on that specific period in their lives that was far from their heyday.  I do feel it wouldn't really be the best introduction to viewers unfamiliar with their work and approaching it wanting to find out more about their comedy.

I agree. Nicely done all around. Nice palette. Did you ever see the Korman/Hackett Bud & Lou film? That was a bit...rougher! From the 70's.

That Bud & Lou film is a turkey.  I felt both Buddy Hackett and Harvey Korman were just not putting their hearts in it because they knew also that it was poorly produced and written.

It's based on the Bob Thomas biography of them which wasn't a very favorable portrait....especially of Lou.

Agreed, but a well roasted turkey! I always remember Bud's line to the accountant about the accountant wearing off the rack suits = "I can tell!". But yes, quite inaccurate.
