Is the signature in the same ink as the "Satchmo"? It looks different. Can you post an enlargeable scan like the first image?

Dont know, its  all I have.  Its coming up in an auction in a months time but I thought the sig looked  a bit weird

Well, speaking to the ink, the "Satchmo" shows the striations, variations in ink deposit, speed  of a like felt tip pen. The signature appears a dense black, even and odd. Very legible too. I would want to rule out some sort of facsimile from the images. Odd they don't show a closer image of the signature. Maybe they will send one if asked?

I know Cab Calloway and others were using facsimiles from the 30's on.

I did not think that would enlarge  as it is a bit fuzzy - the signature also appears live felt tip, perhaps a bit slower in application.

Thanks,Eric  they dont do condition  reports  until a couple of days before the sale as I did ask before posting so I was interested in other peoples  views on it

Did you ask about the same thing - about the signatures appearance?

yes but they have no clue as its all in storage but there also seems to be no fluidity to it (if that makes sense)

The 'Satchmo' especially looks like someone had one eye on an authentic example and the other on this as they were executing it.

Look at the way that the 'a' and 'c' connections from the previous letters are elaborated as opposed to what you rightly describe as "fluid".  I agree.

I definitely do not like it.

I was looking at the ink, did not look at the signature or "Satchmo" in terms of execution/authenticity. What do you see Findbooks?

I see over-elaboration and a big pause between the writing of Louis and Armstrong.

Didn't actually see the Satchmo.

I think you are right to be somewhat skeptical on this one.   The whole presentation seems off to my eyes.

He was using a black felt tip pen in the later years (as well as green).   But, is it me or does that ink not quite look what should now be well over 50 years old?
