I have very limited knowledge of Madonna but I don't think this one looks like most of the authentic ones I've seen. Would not want this one in my collection.

I agree with Xwiesy. It has a chance. But you gotta talk to a pro when it comes to Madonna. She's tough.

There are some really bad Madonna fakes out there, but I personally think this one is authentic.

Thank you Steve, Xwiesy and James, now I really don't know what to think... ;-)

I agree with you Xwiesy, there are some similarities with the RecordMecca one. Unfortunally the seller doesn't have any more info. The info stated in my op was all he got when he bought it from an auction house which doesn't specialize in autographs.

And Steve, what pros does Madonna? I for exampel didn't think Roger Epperson would give an opinion on her, since she's all over the place with her signature... Do you know anyone else who could help?

As far as I know Roger does Madonna. He's the one I would go to. I'm a little better than 50-50 on it. One thing that concerned me was that it looks like she signed it on a flat surface, which is not common for a publicly signed autograph. But you said she signed it for a charity auction so that would explain it. I would expect that the signature would be better quality if she signed it for a charity auction, though.

Thanks Steve for clearing that up regarding Roger. 

I also thought that was quite odd. Would she signed a rushed shortened sig for charity? But maybe I´m translating it wrongly, it states:

SIGNED BOOKLET, LONDON 2001
(Charity auction for Esprit / Eil)

Could that mean that it was donated to the charity auction by someone else than Madonna and it's not from her directly? But that's not an easy thing to find out...

I know that I'm not like a lot of collectors, but when I buy an autograph I want it be a fairly full signature and look similar to what I expect. I would never buy the scribbles that are sold and even certified today. I have a couple Pacinos like that, which were given to me as gifts, but I wouldn't buy them.

She has signed worse than this for things she was selling to the public.

I don't know how you authenticate her stuff that isn't perfect. She has so many variations.

I could post 10 or more variations of her signature. And one our more infamous forger whipping boys has got one down pretty well.

If you're buying a less than perfect example, I think you need to do it from a great source. For example, autographs99 has one on eBay that would probably be too tough to authenticate if you didn't know that seller was rock solid. I'd buy a scribble from autograph pros. I'd buy one from Mike Wehrmann. If the price was right.

The one you have posted, I think, has a chance at being authentic. I just don't know if there's enough there to do it.

If Roger said yes, you can bet I'd buy it, and I'd get a full letter from him.

I agree with both of you, of course I would prefer a nice full signature! Unfortunally there is this little thing called money between me and a sig like that... ;-)
