Madonna Sotheby’s Authenticity?

I now own this photo having won it on an eBay auction. Does anyone have an opinion on Sotheby’s authenticity? The seller sent me the matching catalog photos and says it’s authentic. It failed Authenticity by PSA, Beckett’s and JSA. The seller said he trusts Sotheby’s more than those services and won’t refund my money. Please help me! Kamran? Or any other experts, please give me some guidance. Thank You.

Go to the Sotheby's site and find the terms and conditions.  I am pretty sure that it will say that Sotheby's does not guarantee authenticity of items it auctions.

That Sotheby's sticker represents provenance, not authenticity.

Even if they did, is it transferable? From 30 years ago? I don't think so.

Eric. Yes. I understand. But most people won’t see the other thread because I didn’t start that one. I truly appreciate everyone’s insight. Lesson learned for me for the future. Truly amazing at the amount of forgeries that are out there from so called reputable companies.

I’m not familiar with her signature, but keep in mind that a nice Ringo signature from a Genesis Publications book failed both PSA and Beckett. That said, the last time I contacted Sotheby’s was to try to get an obvious Hendrix forgery removed from an auction and they sold it anyway.

That Madonna is not real IMO. Common forgery style.

What is everyone’s feeling with authentication from PSA, Beckett’s and JSA? Are they all very trustworthy or does every authenticator have its issues? Thank You.

They all make mistakes but they are all honest. For modern music and entertainment, Beckett is the best.
