Hi guys,

I'm not a regular here and not very knowledgeable about recognizing whether something is genuine or fake. I am interested in a Mickey Mantle 8x10 with this signature...thoughts?

Thanks...

Welcome and great move asking before purchasing - unfortunately I see the opposite all too frequently.

Thanks Eric but in the name of full disclosure, I learned the hard way.

Since you guys appear to be a pretty well informed bunch maybe you can give me a bit more advice. About 20 years ago I set out to build a collection of 1961 Yankee autographs, they were my team as a kid growing up near NYC. I procurred a lineup of 9 but a couple of years ago I learned that Mickey was a fake. The others as far as I know are legit. I'm now considering selling the lot, what I am wondering, is the value of all nine together as a package greater than the sum of selling them individually? If so then I'll look for a genuine Mickey to replace the fake. The other thing is getting all authenticated but I'll cross that bridge later if I do decide to sell.

Thanks, Jim

I would post them here first. If there is a problem with just one of the others the question you've asked becomes moot.

Ok, I can do that.

Great. I won't be able to help as I am not a Sports guy, but there are many here.

Hi Jim

I am also a collector of 61 yankees, in fact I have all 41 of them (including the entire roster plus coaches) on photos, baseball, cards, single signed balls and also a team ball.  it is my favorite all time team.  If you are looking to sell the lot, the keys are Maris, Mantle and Howard. Post those and we can tell you about authenticity

Done, in  a new thread, thanks for the input. I don't have Elston Howard but I do have Hector Lopez, let me know what you think.

BTW, since you are a fan of the '61 Yankees, I have the Roger card in a shadow box with my Roger Maris autograph model glove that I used in Little League. Also Bill Skowron lived down the street from me in Hillsdale, NJ back in those days. He was never around and I never met him but I did play with his kid Greg I think was his name.

Thanks,

Jim
