This is a very-well executed fake, imo.  This is good enough to fool a lot of people.

+1 - lots of good eyes are being fooled as of late. If I was in the market for MJ, I would be extremely cautious and ask alot of questions before dropping any dough.

Big Saturn makes some excellent points above, and the counter is true as well. I rarely see authentic offered under $500 anymore. Also, be wary of autos from far off places - why wouldnt local bidders be snatching these authentic and low priced items up? They likely know something about the source that we dont!

The forgers are getting better at blurring the lines, but the good news is they will never capture the essence of real MJ (as in this piece.) Letter formation is one thing, but there is no soul in this example and putting time in studying will help you pick up on that alot of times.

Happy hunting!

+1

This is a forgery from Tony/Marcelo Dias/MichJack (all persona's who used to be members here).

Tony has a few accounts - he uses

Wide_Savannah https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/wide_savannah as well as

tonyb858708 - https://www.ebay.fr/usr/tonyb858708

On FB tony goes by Tony Bcq:  https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100011433368749

Tony has been trying to sell items on FB, that Marcelo claimed he owned here.

One of the things Marcelo/Tony's camera does when it labels a photo is it puts the year, date taken, an underscore, and a # assigned by the camera. Pierre who posted this discussion does exactly the same.  The photo he uploaded in this discussion was taken today (France time).  Not all cameras label the same.

Below is just two of Marcelo's items he uploaded on the forum, and then Pierre's under it all showing the camera labels.

Here is Pierre's other discussion - same label style (that pic was taken Dec 24, 2018)

Getting back to the actual signature.  Here are some Marcelo posted that are similar in style.

I also pay attention to what people set their items on.  This is again Pierre's discussion here:

Here's an Item from Tony on FB

I also have that same pic saved on a dark jean like material....

Marcelo posted pics on this same jean material (some were listed on Wide Savannah eBay as well)

This is the back of a Prince item Marcelo was selling on our forum.

Tonyb858708 on eBay has an item for sale right now, same background.

I'm thinking that this post from Pierre is actually from Tony (aka Marcelo).  Everyone is also from France.

Thank you Wascher, good job. I love your investigation so much. Its very interesting for me.

This and another recent MJ I should have gotten right—the earlier one is likely good but I used my phone and didn't zoom in deep enough—showed me how out of practice I am on Michael Jackson.

I used to be quite good, and I think I still am when I'm focusing on an MJ project. Of course, I run them by Wascher in those cases too. But he's not part of my day to day routine like he was until a few years ago.

I reminds me of the importance of keeping skills sharp and always checking exemplars unless you know you don't need them.

He always used to ask for opinions on cuts and you kind of knew that he was forging and that means his jimi Hendrix cut that people thought was real isn't.

You are one of the people I emailed on both Tony and Marcelo quite early on.  I can't give any opinion on his Hendrix, but yep I remember all those cuts (you even asked several time on both accounts why he always had cuts)   Here was his Tony account on our forum  https://live.autographmagazine.com/forum/topic/listForContributor?u...

I remember!

I ran the Hendrix by a couple of guys in the industry and they knew straight away it wasn't correct.

He also tried to sell me a Nirvana setlist for 8 grand via friends and family. From France. He's from France? You mean where several Nirvanas have recently surfaced?
