Michael Jackson drawings (Miscell inc. 'Historic portraits' and 'Disney characters')

I'm noticing a sudden influx of MJ signed Michael Jackson drawings coming on to the auction market, which seem to share the common themes of either 'portraits of historical figures'  or 'Disney characters'.

Both of these themes are of course recognised from Michaels' drawings both at a young age and later in life, but it is interesting that so many new drawings are being released on to the market at the same time.

Here are some current examples:

Memorabilia Vault,

Thank you for your explanation. Could you please tell us your actual name, and your background in autographs and memorabilia? I couldn't even find anything about you on your website.
Confusion is one of the biggest problems in this in this industry. All you need to do is post the facts and not imply you don't know something. This is what many that kicked off this site did. I'm sending this from my phone as I am not in the office but will be in the am when I get in but the award image is not right.

I'm not sure what this is in response to, I'm sending stuff to hopefully help figure this out, was this to me?  I'm sorry I wasn't trying to confuse anyone... really.  I don't play games, its one thing I never do.  EVER.  Its hard to quickly make pics up with labels when you ask a question (I actually should have had stuff labeled), so a lapse in my answers happens while I try to find what your asking.   I also have so many FREAKIN sigs from this stuff too that I'm looking everywhere when a question is asked.  I know - same boat for you, sorry.  Just trying to figure this stuff out, really.

I believe you are correct. The font is the same I believe however, I think it is the size of the lettering in the Julian's auction that is different. The margin space between the letters and the bottom is smaller. I believe it is because the lettering is slightly larger.

I sold the one Michael Jackson autograph that I have ever owned, about a year before he passed. Reading thru these posts only makes one thing clear to me.......I will never own another.

Yeah what a quagmire, all this Michael Jackson stuff. Congratulations to Wascher for being like a pit bull  (dog analogy) with this. With photo copies, tracing etc. the good forgers are at work out there pumping this stuff out. The Jackson collecting is surely a mine field out there.

When it comes to Michael Jackson, no one gives a Shih Tzu like Wascher does.

I actually have a sweatshirt that says... I don't give a Shih Tzu (that's more up my alley)

I never did bring all the tracings from the other discussion over... maybe one of these days.

Good morning,

Wascher, no that was not targeted at you.  It was a general statement about confusion.  When so many opinions get mixed in it can become quite confusing to follow.

In regards to the signed note and sig on the drawing; I have seen both of them in person and I do believe both are authentic.  Being very similar is what a signature is supposed to be isn't it?  Now the signature on the note and the signature on the drawing are not the same size though as the way they appear in your illustration and when seen in actual size it doesn't appear so "identical".  He also signed with same color pen with a similar tip that also leads to the similarity.  also the extra writing on the note is spot on in my opinion too.

Now again in regards to the award; I am no expert on awards but have done my share of printing of all types for many years and due to the photo quality, the leaning of the one award and who knows if it was photoshopped to show clarity that the camera could not pick up is beyond me.  It appears that on the Julliens image that the award is leaning forward but the plaque is actually facing straight on so something might have been done just to clear it up.  Many times a camera can't pick up the detail on items like they look when you see them in person and they can be "touched up" not to mislead someone but to show a truer image as to what it looks like in person.  This was not done at all in the MV image.  I don't think that anyone could give a true opinion on these without seeing them or it in person.  One other thing to add about a "font" is; a font not only is the shape of the letter but also the spacing between letters when written.  So if the letter shape is the same then the spacing of the letters will be the same.  It's all done on computers and is universal worldwide.  The only way the spacing could be different would be to go in and manually insert more space and that seems highly unlikely.

I agree Wascher that this is getting tougher and tougher to pick out the good from the bad on MJ stuff as the forgers have become much better since his passing until now.  I do respect and appreciate all you do in regards to MJ stuff and for the help you have given me in the past at recognizing certain forgers traits.

Yeah, the forgers have gotten a ton better. These aren't like the Erick forgeries. When Wascher first showed them to me I didn't question the autographs one bit. The autographs still look good (although what she pointed out about the "i" is concerning), but other things aren't adding up to me. And I think it's suspicious as all getout that the owner of Memorabilia Vault has ignored both of my requests to give us his real name.

Thanks Roger and Steve for commenting.

I mentioned previously that I was going to bring over the tracings from another thread where this discussion actually started, but I don't know how to do that without destroying how it was presented, so I will just provide a link.  (I didn't want to not follow through on that)... we talk about them for several pages there, then we get back to Erick and bring the thread here.  I didn't want to keep muddying up Erick's thread, since he is still out in force doing his "thang".

All of Ericks signatures where similar right? Didn't make it any more authentic. All of these signatures I'm my opinion, look worst than the drawings them selves. Too much mystery surrounding them also....no one wants to say where they are from, Memorabilia Vault won't even say who they are. If I where a potential buyer for MJ or his artwork, Me personally, would steer clear.
