Check this out, Steve. These are two different items (#2024 and #2563) followed by the OP.

Those are literally reprints of a real autograph. Sorry, Jefferson.  I thought you were talking about the Tony Podsada forgeries we've been seeing since the 90s.

No problem. I should have included photos to explain what I meant. They are always on plaques, behind plexiglass/plastic, because they are printed on paper and not an actual photo. If you don't remove them from the plaque they are very convincing. I'm not giving anyone a pass, but I'm guessing that most people who sell them aren't aware they are photocopies. I don't know where they originated and/or if there were any nefarious intentions. Whoever produced them may have sold them as a preprint/photocopy to people who didn't want to pay for a real auto. I'm probably being a bit naive saying that, but they are older and it was pretty common during that period.

Ouch.

I looked at another one last night and did this, but thanks for posting. All the landmarks line up with the same pinstripe from pic to pic. Thank you!

amazing Ballroom, thanks!

Thanks for the update, was going to give it as a gift but I'm still within my window to return! Appreciate your post!

Thanks everyone for your posts. Jefferson, thanks for yours as well, greatly appreciated!

Not sure if this is the proper post or thread for this. But is there any way to discern a reprint vs authentic signature without being in hand? I'll admit, even looking at mine in person I didn't see anything funky about it. Also saw a Mantle picture last night on ebay, listed as a reptint (tha kfully), but the PSA sticker was also visible and reprinted on the photo too. Just curious on what you guys look out for with that.

Thanks again!
