Exposure to certain gasses by an expert restorer might darken the signature a bit.

You'd have to speak to the restorer. It's an LP, not a peice of paper or a print. They may do this more frequently then one might...imagine.

Are you sure it's faded? It simply looks like it's signed on the coated stock cover to me.

It is a US copy. It shouldn't have any coating or lamination to it.

The cover is laminated. Its written over the lamination. It could just be faded looking because of the hassle like nature of writing in pen on a laminated surface. But the timestamp on the back is written with more pressure than the Lennon autograph so it's more prominent but some of the ink looks like it's chipped away over the years.
