Need opinions on Leonardo Dicaprio and ALEJANDRO INARRITU signatures

Hi guys, new member here. I've been following this website for some time now and really appreciate the opinions and advice from everyone on here. You guys have even saved me from buying something fake from the ebay seller probstein123 (THANK YOU).

Long story short, I'm an avid and experienced collector of MMA memorabilia but fairly new to everything else. I've been scammed before and while it was a hard learning lesson, I've learned a lot from it and got my money back.

What I'm currently looking at are two posters signed by actor Leonardo Dicaprio and director Alejandro Inarritu. Both of them are PSA/DNA certified and both certification numbers show up in their data base. The ebay seller is nicksportsautographs.

I know that PSA/DNA is probably the most legit in terms of certification of autographs, but I have also heard (not sure if it's true or not) that they have certified some fakes.

Here are the links to the images:

Leonardo Dicaprio signature and Alejandro Inarritu signatures

I feel like Dicaprio hardly signs anything and Inarritu doesn't seem to be the most well known director in the United States so I'm almost wondering if these somehow got passed and certified by PSA/DNA and they are actually fake.

Can anyone give a rookie any opinions, information or advice?

Thank you all so much and I look forward to hearing back from any of you.

Here they are revealed a bit more. There is very little there:

Hello,

Well. I will try to answer. From the images, if they are genuine or not is secondary in that they are not visible. Of course, being genuine is the first priority but if I grant that, they still appear of very poor contrast.

You don't think they look "real" or you don't know what they should look like at all.

You can't see them without special effects.

They don't seem discounted for being "C-" material or "D" - they have just about terminal contrast.

That leaves you buying poorly looking material based on a sticker. I say PASS. Do some research into pricing and see how these line up. I could never, ever sell anything like this - I would feel awful

Okay, again thanks to all that replied to this. I will look forward to any more opinions and advice that comes my way. I hate to say this, but based on everyone's opinion's here, I might have to pass on these. As was previously mentioned, even if they are legit, the signatures are very hard to make out, in poor quality and location on the poster, and I haven't the slightest clue what they should the signatures should look like. Thanks again everyone. You have all been extremely helpful.

I will look forward to more opinions/advice as it will further help educate me on the whole authenticity process and help me become an educated collector.

Here are some solid in-person collectors/sellers selling Leo - generally in the realm of $150 or lower. Of these, it looks like only Toppix has one from The Revenant (and poor contrast at that).

Looks like he has a terrible autograph these days. It used to be more legible but I guess in the last few years it is more like a squiggle.

Yea his signature is god awful now. You can't even make it out now.

Jesus, with how sloppy his signature is/has gotten, I'm now beginning to think that the signatures on the posters are legit based on what I'm seeing in the links you sent me.

Hey Rich, how legit of a site is all-autographes.com? I'm really eyeing the DiCaprio+Scorsese photo. I'm just worried about it since there isn't any COA that comes with it.

I don't know their autographs that well, but I don't see anything wrong with their Jessica Alba's, Cherie Currie's, Lita Ford's, Gwen Stefani's or their Chirstoph Waltz's.

After doing some research the past couple of day's the autographs above look really legit to me and are clearly visible. I've listed throughout this discussion links to the inconsistency of Leo's signature (some literally look like a scribble) and how he has a habit of signing autographs in dark areas. Thank god the person that got this autograph used a legit pen that makes both signatures visible.

Thanks for your input it's greatly appreciated. As mentioned before you guys are a huge help to me in this whole education process.

I was actually very recently made aware of them. They've gotten a few recommendations on this site, and I see why. His inventory looks good and he appears to be a reputable in-person collector/dealer. I'll spot check a few of the more solid sources I can think of.

COAs are generally worthless for authenticity alone. For resale purpose, it might be a different story, but that's only if you have a COA from a well-known company - it packs more of a a punch in sports collecting, which is more dominated by these companies than other celebs. PSA of JSA stickers make more of a difference to less knowledgeable collectors - or people who don't really care about the authenticity and just want to be able to resell it. The fact of the matter is that JSA and PSA screw up quite a bit, and their focus on profits sometimes undermines their accuracy. That's about the nicest way I can put it. In short, if you have to have an autograph that is extremely difficult or near impossible to authenticate on the basis of the signature alone, the next best thing you can do is buy from a reputable in-person collector. At least you know the source, and often the signing details. With PSA, this info is generally erased.

Dude if you could spot check a few more solid sources and get back to me that would be great. I also emailed this guy about his auto'd DiCaprio and Scorsese photo and waiting to hear back from him. The signatures definitely look legit but as we all know on, here we can never be too sure. Thanks so much.
