I was wondering on if this is a autopen or real? I cant find any preprints who match perfectly.

Yes, Autopen.

Thanks, do you have a photo of another autopen like this?

Yes.

Could you post a link? Sorry for asking so much, but it would be much more convincing for my friend that owns this if I could show him a match.

I have an authentic signed NASA litho photo signed if interested?

Thanks, but I already have one myself - I just wanted to help a friend to identify if this was real or not :)

It is (the OP) template #5 or so. Steve knows much more - and to him a I defer.

Here is a link to a site with Armstrong Autopens:

Armstrong Autopens

Thanks - I have seen that link but cant find it on that site. There are diffrences on those and this one.

1) Steve is the - he is tops.

2) Autopen signatures are signed by a machine using any pen you wish - a machine that can be "nudged" while in operation to make even more subtle "differences". Some "might" be stamps of the same "signature" - that is a question for Steve.

3) Any mistakes are my own.

Here is the signature you question with an overlay of the Autopen template. This is very rough:

PS - Terms need defining. A "preprint" should indeed be exactly the same as the "signature" is in the photo - part of the negative/picture. An Autopen, sometimes also identical, can be made to have variations as here - the nudging I mentioned earlier. The template used is created using a genuine example (or examples, hence 5, 5A etc) of the signature and then the Autpoen does its mechanical work - sometimes with a little help.

Ok? I thought an autopen had to look perfectly the same as the others made by the same setup - since it was a machine.

If not it makes it all that much harder to identify.

Not really, what has been shown is clearly and factually an Autopen (possible stamp). This is Steve Zarelli's area. I am just trying to help.
