Hello everyone, this is my very first post. I'm from Brazil and I have three LPs autographed by Roger Waters in person to me (Darkside of the Moon, The Wall and The Final Cut), when he came to Brazil and I ran across the country to find him. Well, Pink Floyd is my favourite band of all times and I want to get Gilmour's and Mason's autographs as well, but I don't want to buy them, I'd rather travel somewhere and get 'em myself... Does anyone have any kind of hint/advise that could help me? The problem is, as they are not on the road I have no idea from where I could begin looking... I don't think Gilmour would appreciate some brazilian guy in front of his house (that I don't know where it is, by the way) asking for an autograph...

Well, now I will talk a bit about my experience with mr Waters: First, he is very nice and kind with his fans. First time I met him it was at the airport, when he was going from Rio de Janeiro to São Paulo in 2007. I was 18 and I got really nervous, so I couldn't say much, altought we were alone in the airport. But he took a picture with me and signed my DSOTM \o/ After just one minute he left. Second time was this year, he came to my city (Porto Alegre) but I couldn't manage to find him, because he only arrived here on the day of his concert and didn't stop in a hotel, 'cause he was in a private jet and left just after the concert. But I flew to Rio de Janeiro and my girlfriend googled a lot and could manage to discover in which hotel he was. So we were patient and waited in front of the hotel for some 4 hours. So his security/bodyguard talked with us (more 10 people showed up), and we made a queue line and he autographed one item per person. Then he autographed my The Wall and The Final Cut (for my gf).

Well, I hope I can help someone with my experience and hope someone can help me a bit on the search for my 2 missing autographs, as long Rick's and Syd's I'll never be able to get ='(

Well i hope you have good luck in your quest but i have to admit that getting Gilmours signature is going to probably be extremely extremely hard. He has never really liked the whole autograph thing and in recent years has all but stopped signing. I rarely here of any success with him IP. But i dont think he has entirely stopped yet. But it never hurts to try.

Oh yeah, that's not gonna be easy at all, but the main goal is to find him. Then if I get the autograph, great, otherwise is great too =]

Yeah I heard of that. But Mike, where did you see him? Was he on tour?

It's sad he has became so tough... He should be a little more... Thankful for what the fans have done for him (a couple million dollars in the bank) and give away some autographs, but okay... Each one has it's own manners to deal with the world, so I won't judge...

Thank you for the information! =]

I dont know where I read it, but I read that DG is not signing the stuff which was previously signed by Roger Waters.... So maybe that his rules are getting more and more strict. :(

he doesnt sign any pink Floyd stuff..period. It doesnt happen..he will only sign a current album or CD..and he has no current one. he really is not interested in autographs..if you get one..you are very lucky and at the right moment..which are few. Froget a guitar or a pickguard as well.

Wow, that's such a tale of bravery! =D What if Gilmour discovered Roger's signature? He'd be really pissed \o/ Great he didn't! I'm not going to try such thing, if I can manage to say a few word for him it will be good enough. If I have the chance I'll ask for him to autograph an On an Island CD, or one Live at Gdansk DVD, I think the latter is more like he's going to sign, as it is his "last work".... But this if I go to England and find out where I could find him =\ As I am from Brazil unfortunately there are few chances that I'm gonna get it ='( But I'll try my best.

I don't like this kind of attitude... Gilmour (and many many others) got his money from us, ordinary people, fans of his work. They should have a little more respect from this fact and don't be such a pain to give some autographs... But as I said before, I don't mind it... Actually it makes that only the "strongest" get an autograph, I mean the ones who are really well prepared and put the heart in the quest... In certain sense I hated many persons that was together with me when I saw Roger the 2nd time, because they simply were lucky to be there and saw me and some other people waiting... So they were like "Oh, Roger is in this hotel? Is he coming???? I'll wait here!" and got their tickets or any kind of thing they had in their pockets autographed and took pictures... This is kind of unfair, me and my gf had done a lot of research to find out where he would be, we bought plane tickets to go to Rio ONLY for this purpose. In other words, we did put our heart on the quest. And it's a bit unfair that lucky people get the same we did and afterwards simply sell their stuff for like U$100,00 at ebay... So I think they really should have their rules for autographs and pictures, but not so extreme ones like Gilmour does... (Sorry for any english mistakes)

Oh yes, it's getting really worse. But I'll not end my quest... I'll keep trying and if someday I can meet Gilmour or Mason I would not mind not getting an autograph. I just want to see them. They are really importants in my life and took (and still take) a very important place in my decisions. My quest was to meet the four (when I started my quest Rick was still alive). When Rick died I got so upset, but I didn't give up on the other three and also didn't get upset of not being able to meet Rick. If I don't meet anyother of them it's ok, but I won't give up until I have no more chances. I also won't cross the world if I have not a real chance but if somehow I have a chance I will take it with both hands and do my best =]

BTW congrats to your RW signatures. I just have to ask - am I right, that Roger signed the Dark Side 2 times? First time in the ballpen (but he stopped after writing Ro...), second time with silver marker?

He just signed once... The band arrived first at the airport where I was so I handed it to them and they started aurographing, but when Roger came up he had his silver pen and autographed to me... =]

About the rules, I agree 100% and I already thought I was dumb by wearing the The Wall shirt when I went to the hotel. But this was no mistake, because there were others wearing band shirts, so it was not relevant. I got my LPs in a bag, too, and only got them out in the right moment. I have the same rule about being selfish. In my city I was looking for him with just my gf and one more friend. We didn't tell anyone what we were doing and I dont regret. It didn't work, because he only got in my city on the time for the concert and left just afterwards. Then I went to Rio to try again, and it was sucess.

I'll need luck to find Gilmour (or Mason) almost alone, and much more luck to be in a moment when he is in the mood to autograph... The big big problem here is they are no longer on the road, so to find them it will have to be in a moment of his "real life" and they will not be on the mood to autograph. A friend of mine was at London a couple years ago and went to a Crosby and Nash concert. Gilmour was on the crowd and he saw him leaving the concert. Obviously he tried to get a picture, but Gilmour didn't allow... I can't even imagine I meeting Gilmour on his routine and he taking a picture with me or even talk to me (or with any fan). So yeah, I will need all the luck in the world. But I'm a very optimistic person =]
