My wife loves Twilight and Kristen Stewart, and my son was dying to get her a signed photo for her birthday. He found this item on eBay, it wasn't crazy expensive ($89) and it looked sort of legit, so I just bought it on a whim.

I have no idea if the signatures are legit, but I do know that I found the identical photo for sale by someone on eBay in Australia:

I'm sure the one I bought is probably fake, but has anyone ever heard of or dealt with this person from Etsy?

https://www.etsy.com/shop/Valentinoshollywood

On their listings, they always write:

Each photograph comes with a certificate of authenticity issued by Valentino's. Valentino's are proud members of the Universal Autograph Collectors Club, member number 7793. Valentino's are registered members, not dealers.

After researching I think I found that anyone can become a member of this club? Things are not really adding up. Is what I bought most likely fake? It's identical to the one in the eBay link above. I will say the marker looks real, but I have no experience and can't tell if that's just part of a photo or if it's actual maker. Are there any good ways to tell?

They say they take returns and they pay shipping, etc, so I guess I can try to go that route - but my son will be disappointed. Let me know if anyone thinks there's a sliver of a chance that this is legit.

Thanks!

Moderators - I think I posted this in the wrong place? Is it possible to move?

I don’t know anything about Kristen Stewart autographs.  However, you should edit the discussion title, and replace it possibly like so, “Kristen Stewart signed photo”, and place it in the “Is this Autograph Real” forum.

You can change the forum at the bottom once you go into “Edit the discussion”.

I moved this to Is This Autograph Real? Thanks for asking.

Without seeing a scan of your item we cannot compare with the eBay one but would assume if it is exactly the same then you purchased a pre-print and have definitely overpaid.

+1

Ok - Just had a chance to scan the photo. The seller is insisting it's authentic and is willing to accept a return at their expense if I'm not happy, no questions asked.  I want to believe it - but I just don't understand then how the exact same copy ended up on eBay. The placement of all the signatures is identical - it's clearly the same. I guess the only answer is that I have the original somehow and that one is a copy of it.

Assuming the signatures are real for a moment, is there any way to determine if I have a copy or an original? I tried looking online to find others of the same, and the only one was that ebay link above - which isn't even trying to pass it off as real or original.

When held in direct glare of a light bulb, does the ink change color? Or does it disappear into the photograph? If it changes color that would be one indication of live ink. I suspect it will not.

I agree with the others and do not thin yours is live ink so would call the seller on their offer and get a refund.

Tonight I spent some time studying the signatures a bit more. I do see some different colors when I shine the light on it from different angles. Maybe it's my imagination? I tried to capture a few closeups with my phone camera while shining a flashlight on it. Do these help at all?

Anyone's opinion changed after seeing these? To me it does look like the light is reflecting differently off the sharpie areas. Does this mean anything?
