I have 2 different signatures from him, both from the 40s.

I have 2 different signatures from him, both from the 40s. I took yours and tried to clean it up a little bit. Then I combined the two on my photo editor best I could.

Thank you for your work Scott, it's much appreciated! There are quite a few similarities and differences between yours and mine, if my autograph is actually authentic maybe it was done at a much later time in his life?

Alan

I wish I could help out more but I am unqualified to do much more than post the signatures that I know are authentic. They came from my grandfather and were signed for him at the Hollywood canteen approximately 1943-44. Roddy was still a youngster then and I have seen many variations of his signature, just like you said. He signed one that looks very nice and then there was the one that I posted that looks like he signed for my grandpa while doing a handstand. Haha! I'm sure there was a hundred other servicemen behind my grandpa waiting to get signatures and I'm sure fatigue very well could have been a factor. Not to mention, having half the u.s. Navy standing in front of you waiting on you to get to them, has to be a little stressful.

Thanks again, Scott, any other opinions on this autograph?

Alan

I wish I could help you more than what I have but the lack of experience on my end means that I would be just voicing an uneducated opinion and you deserve better than that.

I did however, try to find examples of Secretarial or Auto pen and didn't see his name associated with either. I'm sure I could have spent more time and found something but not from about 30 minutes of looking yesterday. I did learn that he was involved in a raid by the FBI in the early 70s. He had some movies that were hi quality bootleg tapes. He turned snitch and didn't go to jail over it but it did cost him his reputation and put his career on the skids. It wasn't that long ago when loyalty actually meant something and honor was a real thing. Good luck to you and stay in touch if you'd like.

Thanks Scott, will do.

Take Care, Alan
