There is a lot of discussion on Mantle, Williams and DiMaggio, but I think Roger Maris deserves a discussion as well. Maris is actually much less common than the three aforementioned signatures, much pricier and just as forged.

Let's see some real and fakes to help train the eye!

I'll kick it off with a slowly drawn, common fake style. Note the slow "chugging" effect in the R and M.

Certed with a Mike Baker / Justin Priddy GAI COA.

wow...despite the slow shaking...its close but now cigar !!

I don't know anything about Maris, excited to learn. Sweet subject Zipper.

this is really an amazing forgery. the only real giveaway is the shakiness. the forger got one thing correct that most forgers miss.

The slant is way off too.

he was not consistent with slant.  sometimes it was almost straight vertical and other times, like CEE GEE's index card, it slanted right.

Saw this card last night on ebay...yuck !!!

I only own one so once I dig it up I will post it

here is a perfect example of an authentic Maris...just beautiful...as Zipper me recall I lost lots of sleep over this one...JSA

A magnificent exemplar.

What's the story on this one CG? Did you get that IP? Or did you get lucky and find one personalized To Chris!!!

Don't ask... it's like rubbing salt in a wound! LOL
