Ronald Reagan signed "historic print" : a true transformation.

This is interesting......

The first ad below for the signed book appeared in late April (couple of months ago)

The second ad for the "historic 'Tear Down This Wall' souvenir print" (different seller) appeared today (June 3)

In my opinion, the dealership that designed and is selling this altered Reagan item is becoming as bold as brass in their creations.

Recently here, we looked at this that they are also responsible for.  This one even replicates the vintage Brady cabinet photograph logo over their own modern business advertisement.  Fake foxing to the custom card as well.

I'm going to ask the question because there seems to be a pattern....

Does PSA leave blank image areas on their verification pages for preferred clients who have submitted altered items?  I realize that it says "cut" but images seem to accompany unaltered items on the verification pages.

The seller of these Reagan and Douglass items has PSA certification on pretty well their entire inventory at any given time.

I don't understand the premise here.  PSA only saw it in its final state so it's not like there are two versions of the autograph.  I think you're probably overanalyzing things.

You don;t find it misleading? Any of this? What will dictate price but eye appeal and the slab to the newer collector unaware to navigate this all (the terms)? What will protect him?

Of course I do, but I'm not going to suggest conspiracy theories to further upset people.

I'm generally (with perhaps a few exceptions) against cutting apart documents or books in the first place.  The contrived fantasy items are just adding insult to injury.

As for the Reagan, in hand it must be obvious that it's an inkjet image on book paper, and then there's the odd size and huge blank area of the inscription.  It has more red flags than a May Day parade in North Korea.

If someone gets fooled by all that then I'm not sure there's anything anyone can do to save them.

I have no theories. Other than profit driven motivation(s)

I was just referring to speculation by someone else that PSA is intentionally leaving the verification page blank.

Yes. I would have no idea about the inner workings of such a place re submissions (I HATE that work "submit") or anything else nor would I want to. I am still "worrying" about the signatures Now the items themselves may be fake(d).

"Collect vintage - they don't make it anymore." - Scott Kinnes.

"If someone gets fooled by all that then I'm not sure there's anything anyone can do to save them"

That could be said of paper, ink and "provenance." Self education. Relentless.

Perhaps there is no pattern regarding no images to verify on these creations.

Sorry for being in any way conspiratorial to suggest such a thing might be going on....and that the PSA might intentionally leave some blank but not others.

At this point, I couldn't care less what chicanery might or might not be going on.  If I would allow myself to care much,  I would be sad for a hobby that has meant so much to me.

"At this point, I couldn't care less what chicanery might or might not be going on"

I am with you.

Future collectors will have to question paper (not photo paper), print method (not chemical photograph) and size (unusual) in this case, and have to ask "why?" With the Trump magazine I still think the lack of ink under the signature will be seen along with perhaps some weirdness around it - maybe we can get an enlargement of something like that.
