I would appreciate opinion on the validity of this Babe Ruth autograph.
I picked it up at a local online auction.

I know there's no way you paid a lot of money for it.
That "Babe Ruth" is a "Yikes!!!"
That is correct, it was inexpensive. Would you educate me as to what makes it a "Yikes!!!"
It makes it a "Yikes!!!" because when Mr. Williams saw the picture of the Ruth forgery, he bellowed "Yikes!!!"
I am not a Babe Ruth expert by any means, but I am sure shinblind means can you elaborate on how he is certain it is a forgery? I understand your humour, I am sure it even being inexpensive, it still sucks finding out something is a forgery with perhaps a little more detail then "Yikes!" ;)
Unless you study autographs and train your eyes, it is almost impossible to explain.
It is simply a poorly-executed attempt at emulating "Babe Ruth's" autograph.
The immediate red flag was the price you paid for it.
Buyers and sellers of autographs scour the internet for deals that they can flip.
The "Babe Ruth" you won and paid for was not one of them and that's why you got it at a "great price."
I hate the great price saying. I once got a jim thorpe signed 8x10 for $45 on ebay, and later got the ok on it from Jsa (Some of you don't like them thats fine but it would pass psa too) so there are good finds out there. That said everones completely right about having the right feel for it. No comment from me im more of a football guy.
As bad as it gets, looks like it was shakily and slowly drawn
Exactly, Dan.
The baseline is all wrong, etc.
Look at the R , the forger had a tough time with it.
Really every letter is bad.
