Ran into this the other day but Disney had so many variations over his life. This signature is on a old thick piece of paper and signed with a fountain pen. Maybe from the 30's or 40's? Any thoughts would be welcome! Thank-you.
Difficult to see properly but from what I can see it of it; it does look good . However, this is the easiest style of Disney's sig to forge so maybe post a clearer picture for people to see.
It looks like this is matted and framed (something I rarely buy since I like to actually see the texture of the paper) the thickness bothers me slightly since not really sure what it would be on. It has the appearance of construction paper was sometimes used as autograph pages but usually later than this appears to be. Maybe it was on a card of some sort too just a bit hard to tell. Examples of his I have seen generally are on thinner album pages. I agree with both Edward and Michelle in their comments. I think it would be helpful to have better resolution images but that might not be possible if framed. I am not an expert on him, but I have wanted a Disney for a long time and have looked at lots just never could afford.
I would check with Phil Sears as I have heard that he is the expert on Disney just to be on the safe side.
It is matted but the paper is view able from the back side as the backing is not permanently attached. The paper is thicker than an album page, probably card stock type thickness. I scanned it at 300 dpi but will scan it at a higher resolution if it will help. The paper matches the age that would a fountain pen the most frequently used instrument. From what I can estimate the signature would be an earlier style before it evolved into a more loopy style he used in the 50's-60's. I appreciate all the input so far as I really would like to dig out the truth on this one. Phil Sears is outstanding but I do have issues with TPA especially when putting their name on items they do not directly sell. I honestly believe this site is the best sight to get completely unbiased and knowledgeable opinions. As good or better than ANY TPA.
