Signed Sealed Dlvd. has these. They look similar to each other but different than yours. I was sad when I saw they were priced at $125, because I knew that meant he had died. I didn't remember:

Actually, I think the signed album compares very favorably to my ISP. The only difference is the little flair to the left of the W, otherwise it is the same in terms of formation and slant.

 

The signed card however does appear to be different, and not even the same as the signed album above it. Different slant, formation and written more slowly.

It looks real to me, but I've only gotten Warren Zevon once. It was a weird story.

 

First, this young guy was the only other person waiting. He wanted a signature to surprise a girl he was going to propose to. She's a huge fan. He wanted Zevon to write "will you marry Harold?" He wouldn't.

 

We also both got yelled at by his manager, for only having the Excitable Boy (his best album). We were told we should buy new material (usually I'll by the new CD, and also bring a few old albums -- that system worked wonderfully with Ray Davies of the Kinks recently).

 

He signed my Best Of disc and Excitable Boy, but because this excitable boy was standing with his Sharpie cap off for an hour waiting -- the pen he used was running dry, and our signatures don't look as good as they could've. Damn it!!!!

 

Zevon also yelled at two groupies backstage a few years earlier. I didn't have anything for him to sign (didn't think of the ticket stub until it was too late). He was yelling at one for being a dumb bimbo that didn't know anything about Greek mythology. She ran from the backstage crying. It was harsh, but everybody else around was laughing, so...what do I know (I certainly don't know Greek mythology, and was glad he didn't quiz me before signing my two items).

 

Fun fact: He got David Letterman, a good friend of his, to sing on one song (I think it's about a hockey fan, I can't remember). Letterman basically shouts things, like an angry fan.

Josh,

Upload your In person Zevon please! Rog's and Zipper's seem signed by different people, don't they? You can help clear it up.

Zippy, was that in person or TTM?

MIne was TTM.

 

Looking further at the album and my ISP, I'm pretty convinced the same person signed both of those. The slurred "rr" that kinda looks like a "u" is identical on both. (The "rr" on the card is much different.) The distinct "n" at the end of Warren is the same on the ISP and album.

 

The signed card is the odd man out. It is totally different than the album and ISP.

The card was signed in the early 80's and the book page was signed in the mid 90's that is the difference I believe you are seeing.  The card was gotten by a friend of mine who lives in my home town of Detroit and the book page was gotten from the estate of Larry Lent a Houston Music journalist who passed away in early 2000.  Warren Zevon was the king of inscribing things.  I met him many times at a Houston Venue "Rockafellers" all through the 90's until his passing.  I probably got at least 10 things signed by him then and all but 2 were inscribed.  You just couldn't talk him out of doing it.  I used to take orders for people as I knew he would inscribe it and I could get things personalized for my clients.  

As to the TTM photo i would have to take a look at the inscription to compare as the signature does look a bit different but the writing will tell the whole truth I believe.  I will dig through my files and see what I have in my archives.  This might take a day or two.

easier then I thought, here are 2 inscribed ones, looking at these I believe the TTM is authentic.  Note the - after he wrote the name on first one and the second one the signature is dead onto the photo even the "W".  Also note the suttle "nick mark" he makes at the end of the "W".  It is noticable clearly in the silver ink.

Zevon has always been a favorite and I'm really glad to hear my photo is likely authentic.

 

I kinda suspected it might be real because the Z he wrote in my last name matches well with the Z in his last name. If it was a secretary who "learned" to write his name, chances are he/she may not have done the Z consistently in the inscription as well.

good point, i loved him too.  he used to have don henley's band backing him on tour.  lawyers guns and money says it all!

Lawyers, Guns, and Money is such a great song.

 

Steve -- it's too hard for me to download pictures. And, the idea of looking for photos on my computer, and spending time to download them -- on my own time -- just isn't something that is worth doing.

 

So many people here just post pictures so everybody can give them freee opinions on if they're good or not. And, when I used to be paid by this magazine, and now I write things on here for free -- that's about all I'm willing to do for free.

 

I will say, on the CD and album he signed for me, he wrote something like "awooooooooo"  (from Werewolves in London song).
