good detail the "MG"
So, I finally got around to imaging the Maris ball that I bought with the worst Maris signature ever. :D A big part of the reason I bid on the ball was the ball itself: Harridge OAL Reach.
Ball looks much worse in hand than on the auction page. As you can see in this last image, there's a scratch on the ball through the "og" part of the Maris signature. If it were mentioned in the listing, it's something that would have been noticed, but Heritage managed to hide it somewhat since the lighting made it look like dust. And, definitely not a 6-7 grade ball. If the photos wash out the toning, the signatures end up super light, and if the signatures are darkened to show up, the toning pops. The ball itself looks a better during the day (photos taken under 6500 degree lighting), but the Maris looks nearly invisible in natural light.
After some effort, I was able to discern/compile a list of who supposedly signed the ball:
Zeke Bella
Bob Cerv
Harry Craft (manager)
Joe DeMaestri
Ned Garver
Bob Grim
Kent Hadley
Don Heffner (coach)
Ray Herbert
Whitey Herzog
Frank House
Ray Jablonski
Ken Johnson
Jerry Lumpe
Roger Maris
Joe Morgan
Russ Snyder
Bob Swift (coach)
Wayne Terwilliger
Dick Tomanek
John Tsitouris
Bill Tuttle
Dick Williams
I have reason to believe the Harry Craft might be a clubhouse signature done by Bob Cerv. My reasoning is that the two coaches signed the ball (Swift managed in Craft's place while he was out sick), and Cerv has a signature on the sweetspot along with Craft's. Just hypothesis, though.
I've seen those Disney World COAs before, but I wasn't aware that Disney sold autographs and they didn't seem to actually be from the Walt Disney Company. Was this sold by Starabilias in Disney World?
