occasionally we brought up and discussed a topic other than autographs?  And definitely no, I’m not talking about politics, as that can get too contentious.  But what if someone brought up a television show or a movie and its characters?  Why do so many of us collect the autographs of various tv and movie stars and music stars?  Because we like the shows they’re in and the characters they portray or the music they produce.  Collecting a person’s autograph and admiring the work he/she produces go hand-in-hand. For instance, I just saw Solo: A Star Wars Story.  And since we have several Star Wars autograph collectors here, I’d like to hear their opinions on the movie.

Yes, I could look for a different website, but after having been a member here for more than four years, I know more people on here.

So what do you think?  Would it be okay to occasionally bring up an off-topic...as I have already done?

Maybe we could create a separate forum where members could go to bring up other topics.  It’s just a thought.

Sure. You're in the right forum for various topics, too.

Okay, thanks, Steve.

I think that's a great idea, James. Personally, i only collect autographs because of the direct connection to the person who signed it. For me the autograph has little to do with aesthetics of the signature but rather the significance of the signer. The autograph could be an ugly, shakey black cross - as long i could be confident it was authentic.

Anyway, would be more than happy to join the conversation!

Thanks for your support, your Honor!

I also think it's the connection to the person rather than the autograph itself that is the most important(as long as it's authentic of course).

I have a collector card signed by Carrie Fisher and because she used a rather thick pen on a small surface her signature is rather crowded and blobby, she even apologised for it being hard to make out. It would likely be regarded as a rather poor example of her autograph by most collectors but because she signed it in front of me and I got to briefly speak with her I would never exchange it for even the most pristine example.

Good on yer, Alan. Totally agree. The most important factor is the authenticity.

Whilst on the Star Wars theme, i got my 2007 Star Wars Celebration programme signed by a couple of the players. The most impressive was Billy Dee Williams - i requested he sign "The Coolest Hair In The Galaxy" and he happily obliged. Unfortunately, it got slightly smugged - my amateur mistake!

What a great inscription, Judge!

Cheers James!

I know what you’re saying, Alan.  I have two authentic Wilt Chamberlain autographs...one on an Official NBA Game Ball and another in a large coffee table book.  But the one in the book is more special to me because I got it in-person at my alma mater and his, the University of Kansas.

Tbh, I assumed there already was an off topic section that I just hadn’t ventured into yet.
