This signed picture was one of several items in a lot I purchased. Mostly of movie and sports figures. I can't identify him. Looks like a 1970s director or cameraman. Not my area of expertise. I…Continue

"Thanks! It's a challenge, but fun. Studios were almost like sports teams with their core roster and continual additions and subtractions.  "

"That's really cool!   Love it! When I was first really discovering TCM in it's earliest days, I quickly became a great fan of the collective "Warner Bros. stock company" of the 30s and 40s..   Even now,…"

"Hi. Thanks for the reply.  It's hard to say. Under a magnifying glass the "S" "L" and "B" look like they have tiny striations or darker flecks. Very hard to tell with the smaller letters. The "S"…"

a pug called eva replied to Old School's discussion Louise Brooks signed picture.
"Judging by the slightly out of focus end of "Brooks", I'd guess this is signed in the negative but it is not completely obvious (see the ink-looking "S" of "Sincerely"). Anyway, I'd guess the signature itself…"

"Is that white ink or a part of the photo? It does not appear ink hut like so many negative signed fan postcards."

Mark Stanton replied to Old School's discussion 1957 team signed Montreal Canadiens mini bat
"Its odd that a hockey team would sign a bat but it may be all they had to get signed. The big boy is on there Maurice “Rocket” Richard. One of the best and it’s good so I wouldn’t have any doubts it’s good. No doubt…"

1957 team signed Montreal Canadiens mini bat

This was a signed mini bat from charity soft ball games played in the fifties by the Montreal Canadiens. Fully documented. It's actually my second one. An amazingly sharp and bold Jacques Plante. Seventeen signatures all together, included all HOF members. Both Richards, Moore, Geoffrion, Harvey, Johnson, Blake, Olmstead etc. Even the two trainers, who I was unable to…See More

"Nice collection.  I find it always fun to check thrift stores. I've found probably fifty or sixty signed  books that way. Some are of pretty much unknown figures, but at least a few dozen are from major figures in sports,…"

Sports, Classic Hollywood and Stage, Books/Literature
Why do you collect?
1) to recapture memories of subjects of interest from my past. 2) to enter into the ambience of past times before I was born. 3) to expand the focus on groups and individuals from specific teams and genres of 8nterest.
What is your favorite autograph in your collection?
I have had thousands over the years, so it's hard to think of one. Sometimes it might be a totally obscure player who completes a project. Or a long dead actress who was forgotten over time.
But I have a Montreal Canadiens jersey signed by Maurice Richard and Jean Beliveau. Also a Mantle signed yearbook page with a story behind the acquisition. And I should mentioned autographs of Louis B. Mayer, Dore Schary and Eddie Mannix of MGM. Also an MGM signed print with 23 autographs of iconic stars of the forties and fifties.
You can ask anyone living or dead for their autograph. Who would it be?
H.P. Blavatsky
