That sounds like one of the worst "deals" I've ever seen.
"Show it off like a gold bar" - has gold suddenly dropped to 1 cent per ounce?
Ummm, I can go to the little league park, find a dirty old baseball, and scrawl "Babe Ruth" on it myself for free. :) Looks like someone got burned by an old Greg Marino forgery and is trying to recoup some cash!
Not too thrilled to see something like this, but I suppose technically the seller isn't doing anything wrong if he's upfront about the fact these are replicas. The problem is once these hit the "estate sales" and ebay without the disclaimer attached, they start wreaking havoc.
"Museum quality reproduction" is that like "genuine artificial?" Technically I thought under the Hobby Act of 1972, or whenever it was, reproductions were supposed to marked as such. I do know many contained little stickers that were easily removed. Granted the ad is within the letter of the law but it is clearly aimed at market where people do not always read carefully.
I almost wonder if these are forged balls left over from "Operation Bullpen"...
Thought I would google the inscription and found this -

Again, not thrilled about it, but they are listed as replica. Just seems like the main market for these would be scammers who will try to flip them for a quick buck to unsuspecting buyers.
These types of baseballs are being offered all the time on ebay offered as repros. But it does suck.
