Weirdest Way to Have an Autograph Authenticated -- ON NATIONAL TV!

I'm watching Jimmy Kimmel Live a few nights ago. He's quickly become my favorite late night host. He's got a great interview style, and great wit.

He had Ashley Greene on, who is one of the young starlets from Twilight. Now, when there's a guest like that, I end up reading a newspaper or magazine, while it's on the TV. I figure, they're going to talk about a project that I didn't see or don't want to see, so why not catch up on my reading?

I hear her talk about autographs, so I look up.

(not sure why the rest of my story didn't show up)...here it is...

She was sent a book, that was some big owners manual for a fancy car (perhaps a Bentley, I forget). The fan said the book was really special to him, and he wanted her to autograph it. She insisted Kimmel sign it and he laughed saying "I don't think the guy wants my signature, he wants yours." She assured him she was going to write a nice, long message to him at home, but thought it would be cool to have him sign it. He laughed and reluctantly signed. He joked about the guy being a stalker and wrote something like "Get a life."
Greene felt bad that the guy had sent the book awhile ago, and she forgot about it. Well, I have to think the guy is going to be thrilled that it became fodder for the talk show. And, he sure doesn't have to worry about whether it was a secretarial signature.

I had Don Henley tell me once that the signature on the attached LP wasn't his. I told him actually it was and told him he signed it coming out of The Monkey Bar resturant with a girl in one hand and both almost stumbling getting into the town car that night. He looked at me like I was a jerk for telling him that, but I felt the need to justify my authenticity to him:

That's a great story, although I have to ask -- how is it Henley is seeing an album with his signature on it? Aren't youg etting him to sign albums HE HASN'T SIGNED YET?????

As a kid, I got 76ers (and hall of famer as a player) coach BILLY CUNNINGHAM coming out of a basketball game. He kept walking, and fast paced, as he signed. It's the weirdest looking signature ever, and I'm guessing, he's never signed another that looked like it. So, I sometimes tell that to people when they think certain authenticators know everything.
