Dear Sir:
I am a 91 year old man who was a great Glenn Miller fan many years ago. In pursuit of my interest, I acquired one of his Bluebird records as a gift from Mr. Miller. Namely: #BB10286 titled Pavanne (side B inscribed) & Little Brown Jug (side A).
This record was inscribed, "To Elon P. Holman" "Sincerely, Glenn Miller". It was accompanied by an autographed letter on Band Stationery dated 23 July, 1940 and explained the circumstances of the presentation. Same was a treasured item these past 67 years and is now the cause of great unhappiness for me.
Both the letter and the record have been stolen and I presume sold to the highest bidder. The theft occurred from my home within the past six months as near as I can tell. It was preserved in a steel box and removed only by myself for cherishing periodically.
I believe that any person sufficiently interested in the autograph portion MUST be a subscriber to your magazine and I would like you to place a notice in your magazine titled: GLENN MILLER FANS - STOLEN LETTER AND RECORD with adequate details above. I will be most happy to pay your going rates for advertising.
PLEASE help me in this matter - There aren’t many things in my purview from those years and I am desolate at the loss of this one.
