Michael Jackson drawings (Miscell inc. 'Historic portraits' and 'Disney characters')

I'm noticing a sudden influx of MJ signed Michael Jackson drawings coming on to the auction market, which seem to share the common themes of either 'portraits of historical figures'  or 'Disney characters'.

Both of these themes are of course recognised from Michaels' drawings both at a young age and later in life, but it is interesting that so many new drawings are being released on to the market at the same time.

Here are some current examples:

Seller artebox49 (Rome) selling 'copies' of MJ drawings on ebay com (except that this is a copy of a forgery  - by another bored 10 year old):

Pencil Drawing Signed MICHAEL JACKSON - On old sheet ($1 start)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pencil-Drawing-Signed-MICHAEL-JACKSON-On-ol...

We decided to sell the drawings of this collection and, since these pieces are without any documentation, they are sold as they are.
The collection includes drawings of various artists, various techniques, pencils, inks or other techniques - collected in several decades in the twentieth century and even later.
The design is in good condition, but the paper may have stains or discoloration due to exposure to light or age, as shown in the photo.
The works were purchased on various road markets, antique markets, traders, etc. And without a certificate of authenticity and origin, so you can not guarantee authenticity. As a result, work is proposed, as per the current legislation, as a copy of the author.

You just gotta love how they artificially age a copy of a forgery that was done within the last few yrs.

Looks like they dunked it in tea. Love how everything about the drawing and signature is shaky.

from Simon Parr on ebay uk  (hawaiiat80):

Interesting article about law enforcement against art fakers in the USA:

Three Charged in New York With Selling Fake Damien Hirsts

Lopreto was apprehended in New Orleans last Wednesday, according to The Times-Picayune. The arrest followed a sting operation by undercover New York police officers, who purchased two of Lopreto’s allegedly fake Hirst prints, which authorities say he and the other defendants were peddling for between $3,000 to $14,000 apiece. They claim that Lopreto had been advertising the “limited edition” prints online alongside fake certificates of authenticity and purchase receipts.

“Vincent Lopreto is charged with resuming the same scheme to knock off Damien Hirst artworks that sent him to prison just 15 days after being released,” Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, said in a statement. He added that this case of fraud “went beyond plain imitation” as the defendants had deceived “a multitude of buyers into purchasing counterfeit art that was falsely passed off as genuine.”

Lopreto’s attorney, Sol Schwartzberg, declined to comment since he had just taken the case and was reviewing documents. According to DNA Info, Lopreto could receive a sentence of up to 20 year in prison if he is convicted.

I hope someone from New York Buys this fake and takes appropriate legal action.....

What is is about selling these fakes, that people think this is somehow legal?

(Michael must have been bored whilst making his court deposition in Mexico, I guess)

Handmade Mixed Media Drawing - MICHAEL JACKSON

I bought the exact Bugs Bunny drawing, complete with COA from Simon Parr over a year ago!!!  Does anybody know who that person is that is selling that traced fake junk?

Mark...a majority of these drawings we're done by a notrious fraudster Jason Makris in Canada. 1000 percent.

Ebay says that romartenuova is located in Italy.  Are you saying that he is getting his stuff from Makris or that he is Makris?  Does he also supply Simon Parr?
