Hello everyone, I’m new so I’m sorry in advance. I’m not a collector myself but my dad just bought a Star Trek #6 movie poster that he’s super excited about. I fear he’s been scammed and was wondering if anyone could help me out here. I don’t have a photo of the poster in person, all I have is the stock image he sent me. Once I’m able to get down to his house and see it myself I’ll have better photos.

Just looking for thoughts and feedback. He won’t tell me where or how much he spent for it.

This is not authentic, IMO. All are very poor attempts at forgeries.
Thank you. Kinda what I was afraid of. It’s the one thing he’s always wanted, any suggestions on where I could get him a legit poster? Doesn’t have to be the cast, one or two would be fine but he’s pretty set on it being #6 for a few sentimental reasons

It's sad and disgusting, but the scammers prey on impulsive buyers and what I call "emotional" purchases.

In case your dad doesn't believe us or you about authenticity, please inform him that Gene passed in October of 1991. VI opened in December of 1991. If any of these posters were out in the hands of collectors before the film premiere, it certainly would not be this design. I believe the original release poster was by Jon Alvin and featured the bumpy head of  Klingon with the Enterprise flying above. That was the poster available for purchase via the fanclub.

I have a lovely poetry about making the Trek films by Dr. McCoy - signed and hilarious. All about his castmates - no punches held. If interested let me know.

Pete you are correct. The advance poster was the Jon Alvin design, and Gene has passed away before the poster in question was used.
