Ebay terminated my auction, stating my COA wasn't an approved source!!!!

My Epperson COA item was removed twice in two days.  After calling twice the Ebay gentlemen told me that Epperson is not an approved Ebay authenticator and all items with his COA are in the process of being removed.  Say what?! Those are the only ones I buy these days.  Anybody know what's going on?

OK thx

this story will unfold from shadows haha

a trademark usualy has to do with the actualy artist or itiem or tv or movie studio.
so they may be going after him on trademark violation ,that way as the itiems are not authorized by the subject they picture. they can be bootlegs or just other things

yes but Roger only authenticates the signature. He doesn't authenticate the merchandise.

This is all very weird and makes no sense

I know but hes certifying them as real . maybe ebay isn't splitting the hair

once a lawyer for the artist emails and says its  a bootlege or unlicenced itiem they yank.

hes the one saying its real .

I see your point

Just speculation, do authenticators like PSA, JSA, Beckett have to pay to be on the list? There are plenty of fakes on ebay with NO coa's that aren't being removed.

If REAL (Roger) coas aren't allowed on ebay that will hurt his business sadly, as sure, we believe in his opinion and in private sales will still hold value. The everyday guy going on ebay will only believe and trust in the big three and possibly have doubt because he isn't on the "approved" list.

Seems like an agenda to me.

From Ebays page.

https://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/authentication.html

"Authentication companies

The authentication companies listed below are professional, independent evaluators. We've obtained a pledge from these evaluators that they'll offer their services to both buyers and sellers, and that they'll maintain independence from any individual party. The authenticators have pledged not to buy or sell on eBay's core site, keeping them out of competition with the buyers and sellers they are serving. They've also promised to provide eBay users with competitive prices."

I could see Roger not being on the list cause he also sells on his own website.

And they also have a much longer list of banned "authenticators".

Roger is not on that list.

Trademark may be the department, not the exact category of "violation."

eBay has no idea what they are doing authenticity wise. Certain people get a rapport with them, and they think those people are OK.

For instance, I have heard that in the UK, they are listening to a dealer with an authentication company that was shown, by us and others, to be a major seller and authenticator of forgeries. His authentication company was exposed for being the main authenticator for a notorious UK auction house that was as reliable as Coach's Corner in the US.

He even said that he had autographs authenticated by Roger Epperson when that was found to be utterly untrue.

I understand that there is someone in the EC that eBay similarly trusts and listens to. While he is not a seller or authenticator of forgeries, he is someone who constantly calls autographs by the most respected dealers and auctions in the world forgeries.

I have not heard of anyone in the US with similar pull, but they may well be. I've had virtually no communication with eBay Trust and Safety since John Gonzales left about 5 years ago.

I dealt with ebays laweyers the guy I dealt with was named rob chestnut. haven spoke to in years.

I know for trade marke and copyrights .  artists and movie studios have a direct link to a certain person at ebay all they have to do is click send and the itiem will vanish once they have been approved as the actualt lawyer for said entinty

groups like phish ,dave Matthews and so on have relationships like that on ebay

Neil Peart of RUSH also has a relationship like this w/ ebay.

That's why forgeries of Peart and or the band are very rarely seen, anymore.

If a forgery appears on ebay of Rush, it doesn't last long

Too bad not many Rush fans here as its their signatures I know best haha

Nice to see Roger commented here. Hope it all works out well.

All I can say is this is all news to me.  I have not been contacted by anyone saying this to be true.
