Sorry Steve but this TIM don't believe neither in you and this is incredible!
I have a lot of respect for Steve, a lot!
If those are in fact 2 different items and not some scan funniness easily explained one of them is certainly a print, perhaps the OP with less/different strokes and odd ink trails is the copy and Marks the original. Where did that OP scan come from and is there a clearer larger scan? The thread has real value because it went 3 pages with apparently no one recognizing the same mechanical signature in the same scale with only the slightest differences. To me It's like not seeing two Autpoens are the same template. Folks took them as the same? BDM did not substantiate his position at all..Once MarkG says where he got his scan and makes comment the thread will have even more value and perhaps make linear sense.
Tim,
Good question about why I think it's a machine produced fake. We are seeing them more and more. They take an autograph make small variations but leave many of the original characteristics in place so it can pass for good. It's worthy of a real study. I'll talk to the first person who pointed it out to me and see if he's interested in talking about it.
I posted a thread on that lovely machine just now
know who what where is much more important than ever now
I'm glad this one is re-opened
I believe this is a good example of learning
I now believe the OP is some sort of copy of the one MarkG posted
I retract most of my statements in light of what's been posted here.
At first I was thinking the OP was a bad photo, but now seems to be a good copy (forgery)
It pains me dearly to say this, but it seems BDM got this one correct.
So I will apologize to him but don't let it go to your head man LOL
The most important thing is to find the truth... no matter how it's done
+1 I don't care how it is reached, be I or anyone else right or wrong, but the truth is the most important thing. What is genuine.
There are cases where there are several copies of the same forgery.
It's also not unusual for the fraudster to copy another decent forgery. I have 3 machine signed autographs right now I'm researching. All are fake and all just vary slightly from the other.
Nor should it be! Always learning :)
