It is my great pleasure to report the following regarding Coach's Corner.

ABC Action News Investigative Reports Philadelphia ran a blistering report on Coach's Corner Auctions on the 11PM News Nov. 20.

The culmination of an intense 3.5 month investigation, it's the fruit of the determination of Paul Wedding, a collector who lost $15,000 buying forgeries at Coach's Corner, to stop them from burning collectors once and for all.

And now, Paul Wedding:

I believe it was a few months ago I commented to the "What do you think of them," thread. Coach's Corner beat me as well as many others for a lot of money. With complete disregard for the hobby, they flood the market with counterfeit jerseys, counterfeit signatures, photos, you name it.

Collectively we all wanted to see the owners take responsibility for their actions. That has never happened. Till now.

Last week, The Coach's Corner building was bull rushed by my pal, Chad Pradelli. For those of you who do not know Chad, he is an investigative reporter with ABC news in Philadelphia. Chad and his crew beat on their doors until Lee answered it. Chad wasn't going to take any crap that Lee has been known to throw at people who question their garbage. It was beautiful!

Chad offered him the opportunity to explain himself on camera, Lee declined. The story will run this Tuesday evening, guys. From what I understand, other ABC affiliates are also picking up the story. I am also waiting for the Attorney General of Pennsylvania to assign an agent to my case. With this story running on the news, I believe that assignment is coming fast.

Guys, this is the beginning of the end of Coach's Corner. I will continue to push every agency that will listen to me. I hope you guys (Coach's Corner) do read this. This will end with you in a Federal prison. And when you get out, you'll have lots and lots of people to pay back. What comes around goes around

Agree with all that Steve. It’s bad press which is always good. PSA did a good job looking at the stuff and Kevin Keating came across as very credible. He impressed me and I’m one of PSA hardest critics. So that wasn’t easy.

It reminded me a lot of the Cincinnati  report that you and Roger did. Got as much info out possible in the short time allowed for the investigative report.

I just think some sort of law enforcement or court agency needs to take an interest in this. Eventually to shut them down I think it would have to be forced. Hard to see that happen without criminal charges of some sort driving it.

Still think it was a great step in the right direction. Paul did a great job and was resilient enough to stick with it to get it here. I was one of the original doubters that anyone would take interest. Once again nice job Paul. I liked it.

Rick,

I think that law enforcement will take interest in this. It's a local business with a damning investigative report by a major network affiliate. I'd be surprised if there wasn't an investigation by law enforcement.

The reporter on the one Roger and I were in tried like crazy and even had an appointment to meet with either Malack or Trythall, but they didn't show up.

This report built on what the earlier report did.

I sure hope so. Would love to see them dragging box after box out of that place with the only sticker I like on autographed items.

+1

hahahaaaaa

It could happen!

Paul, this was a powerful report! Here's what it showed:

  1. Paul's friend could tell that all the sports autographs they sold him were fake.
  2. Kevin Keating of PSA called them all bad forgeries, without knowing where they came from.
  3. Scott Malack being confronted and refusing to talk to them—that's BIG.
  4. Lee Trythall talking to them and ADMITTING that about 20% of their low-priced lots are fake.
  5. Trythall ADMITTING that even a higher percentage of their more expensive autographs are fake!
  6. Trythall stating that they get too much material to authenticate themselves what is sent to them!

What Trythall essentially said is that if you buy from Coach's Corner, you're buying autographs they never bothered to authenticate and that they believe more than 20% of the autographs they sell are forgeries. And if they're more expensive autographs, a higher percentage are fake.

And that Keating didn't find ONE genuine autograph out of Paul's $15,000 in purchases says volumes.

This is a powerful piece. They never admitted to these things before.

Another point I thought was very strong was the fact Coach’s Corner issues COA’s with all their auctions even after Trythall admitted that they can’t authenticate everything along with the admittance to the things you pointed out.

Agreed - what's more damning I think is how contradictory they are. They state that they can't ensure authenticity since multiple sellers sell on their platform, yet they're the ones seemingly sending everything out with a COA?

20% fake? The several times I went through one of their auction catalogs, I'd be surprised if 20% of it was authentic!!

Even a halfway decent handwriting analyst from any law enforcement agency should be able to find that well over 50% of all of their autographs were penned by the same hand. Many time, they didn't even bother to change pens! ROFL

I would love to see this but I’m in Canada. I hope it is available online. Could someone please post a link?

It will be available for all soon.

Amazing work Paul getting fresh eyes on a decades long scam. I'm not sure which is a more feel good story of 2018.... Roaches Corner admitting they sell forgeries or Tony Podsada getting yanked out of the national by law enforcement?

Anyway, it's a little bit brighter than it was yesterday...Next UP, FEE BAY!
