Hi everyone,

Took a quick glance in the upcoming RR Music auction, when a particular Floyd signed drum head caught my eye. I noticed very similar characteristics from a signed page that was listed for sale here, which I had removed for authenticity concerns. The drumhead seems to be another one of these styles.

Both the drum head and the page are not authentic imo.

Another true giveaway is the sizing on the Waters 'signature' on the drumhead. Roger notoriously signs LARGE on any medium. This is very small & compact, indicating it may have been traced.

+1

so the tpa got it wrong

yes, imo

Seamus,

I changed the title of this piece, not the content.

Why was this changed and RR removed? Also, I am not asking a question, it was an FYI

Because what you said was unfair and likely defamatory. You called them forgeries in the title with their name, yet two respected authenticators and RR thought they were real. Then in the copy you said "IMO."

Even more than that, I don't want members finding even a clear mistake from a reputable seller and acting like they scored a touchdown. It makes it hard for collectors to figure out who's legit and who is not. That benefits the forgery industry.

Don't lambaste someone unless they deserve it. Autograph collecting is a field where the occasional mistake is normal and expected.

If they're dealers who normally sell things like band-signed Beatles albums for $9,995.00, Harrison Ford signed photos for $99.95, or frame up 9 Led Zeppelin albums "band-signed" with John Bonham, that's a different thing. They know what they're doing.

I think the best way to handle it is talk to the seller and point out your concerns. Whether you agree with their answer or not, feel free to post the item then, and you can say how they handled it. You're probably not right 100% of the time, just like they aren't, but it is good to discuss contested items here, as well as ones that are clearly good or bad.

Steve - I apologize if I come up as brash in my comments. I am passionate about the hobby, especially when it comes to artists I know well (aka Pink Floyd). I am not trying to 'score touchdowns' in any regard. I, like a lot of people on this forum are simply looking to spread the word & keep people accountable for their inventory and authenticity.

I also know that RR is generally one of the good guys in the hobby. They have a solid reputation because they are able to listen to knowledgeable collectors in the hobby regarding authenticity concerns.

All in all, perhaps it was too direct, but again these are not genuine Floyd signatures.

Seamus,

Thanks for your understanding. There are a lot of good guys, but again, good guys make mistakes, too, so I appreciate when you discuss your concerns. They also want to fix their mistakes if they agree they have one.

Direct is good, just as long as we keep it constructive.

Thanks

Did I mention both pieces are approved by Steve Grad? And pre certified by Roger Epperson?

I bet they the consignor

Agree.
