Decided to start a new thread... Local memorabilia shop confirmed live ink and we removed it from the frame. It was processed in the mail in 1937 based on the reverse side. Took a few more photos before we packaged it up for JSA

Datitguy84,

So you're selling the Babe Ruth after all. What did JSA say?

And why did your story of where you got the autograph change? You told us you bought it on eBay for $1,100 from a gentleman who bought it at a memorabilia auction before a classic car auction. But in your eBay listing you say:

Babe Ruth Signed Penny post card. Reverse side shows cancelled postage from 1937.

Purchased unauthenticated from estate sale. Decedents name on reverse side

What's going on?

Only to get PSA quick opinion with better scans. I can’t send it to them without an auction link.

I put the bid really high so no one would bid, and no reserve for no auction fees. It will be taken down as soon as I get the results.

No trickery here fellas. Just trying to do what I did with Beckett

Also that back story is how it got on eBay from when I purchased it. I traced its history. It was bought from his estate. I’m not going to put the entire chain of custody in an auction so I can get a quick opinion.

I will let you know when I get the results.

Also John Reznikoff emailed me late yesterday, and said after reviewing the scans on a larger screen he has some concerns. He said to send it off to PSA.

so I decided to use the same scans and get them to take one more look.

just starting to doubt the authenticity with John and Beckett having doubts.

like I said I don’t like to display anything that I am not 100% about. And I am really particular about this.

if JSA passes it, despite all the commentary I got thus far on it. Would you all think it’s genuine and let it be?

becuase right now I’m inclined to sell it if they pass it because there is doubt in my mind.

I did also speak with the guy I bought it from he’s going to refund me and go after Kevin Martin if it returns not genuine.

if you like Steve you can DM me and we can talk on the phone. I’m straight shooter and what I’m saying is 100% facts

So PSA can’t render an opinion. I’ve removed the auction

This is very much what I expected from the outset. This is a piece that any reputable authenticator is going to have to examine in hand, the paper, ink, and how that ink was transferred to the paper of equal importance to the signature's characteristics.

I stated from the beginning, and I paraphrase, "It's Ruth's track. The question is how it appears. The mode of conveyance. Pen, autopen, stamp, imprint, etc.". In hand is the only sure way to settle that question. If I was a professional authenticator, bearing that responsibility, that's the only way I would officially pass or fail it.

Woody,

I think you are spot on with this.. I actually submitted another Ruth to PSA today, that I actually thought was genuine.. They returned it with Likely not Genuine. So that tells me there is enough reason to believe it is genuine, but they need to examine all of what you mentioned.

I know some of these guys here think I want to flip it for profit or make a quick buck... But I just want a genuine Ruth. Something that is as close to definitive as I can get.. That is why I have put so much effort into this.. I actually declined an offer for this last evening for $1800. And another person messaged me and is willing to purchase it with no authentication, and I have told them the entire history and all the feedback from the authenticators.

"I know some of these guys here think I want to flip it for profit or make a quick buck..."

The amount of time and effort you've responsibly expended on this would be counterproductive to making a quick buck, not only the thread but the messaging as well. A lot of effort expended to get to the truth. At this point, I doubt anyone here thinks this is just about a quick buck. At least I can speak for myself and tell you that I don't think that.

Their silence now would indicate they were looking for a "gotcha" moment. That I had it listed for sale, instead of getting the details and finding my true motive as to why. (hence why I posted screen shots of my quick opinion order that I placed as soon as the auction went live)

I'd be more than willing to show them the offer I turned down. I could of easily sold it for $1800 and been done with it.

Never seen a signature opinion that has brought about this much debate in my short time here.

My silence is because you haven't been straightforward and honest.

Most important of all, in your eBay listing offering the Ruth for sale you said it was purchased from the estate of the person who's name is on the postcard. You did not tell the truth. You told us you purchased it from someone selling it on eBay who bought it at a memorabilia auction before a classic car auction.

When we called you on it, you said that you only posted that listing in order to get a Quick Opinion from PSA/DNA; that you were not trying to sell the Ruth. If that's true, it means you were dishonest about the source in hopes of influencing their authenticity opinion.

Whether that's the truth or you were actually offering it for sale, which you said you weren't going to do, and got caught makes no difference. It shows a complete lack of honesty.

Honesty and straightforwardness are extremely important on Autograph Live, as they are in all communications. They don't appear to be important to you.

I think this hobby in general only works with straight forward honesty, as much of this hobby is based on faith and good will. It is hard to regain trust in this hobby when someone isn't upfront with their intentions.

I was honest... had screen shots... proved it... no one cared. Everyone believes the senile old man
