It seems the trend today is shying away from matting autographs. My personal favorite aspect of this hobby is to create a matted piece to highlight my autographs. I mat these myself and enjoy the opportunity to create these pieces. Nothing fancy.  Are there any other matters out there? If so, I would love to see some of your work.

Here is one of my favorite pieces. An early Pretenders set of signature, obtained from a fellow member here matted with a photo I found to start things off.

Two years ago, I finally got around to reading Wilkie Collins.  I had been meaning to read his novels for a long time.  I started with The Woman in White, and quickly followed with The Moonstone.  I enjoyed them so much that I purchased a cut signature, as well as a carte de visite.  I had them both framed together.  I am very happy with the way that it came out.

That's a well done piece, Mike. I like the way the signature stands out.

Love Wilkie Collins! He rivals Dickens for his multi-layered plots. I'm pleasantly surprised anyone knows who he was.

There's an old black and white movie of The Women in White that is available on DVD that is fun to watch, but deviates from the novel. Great cast: Alexis Smith, Eleanor Parker, Sidney Greenstreet, Agnes Morehead, and Gig Young.

i have made a few hundred by now and sold some and the rest is hanging in mine house... i repair quality frames and spraypaint them and cut the cardboards by myself and disign plaques. some are just simple made and some did cost me a lot of time. ''just a hobby''.

if you like to see more framed celebrity's than just ask...

Very nice, Rob. I enjoy seeing what others do. I think matting adds a new dimension to the collecting experience.

One I've done today with Mr Osborne autopen

Ha ha deserves to be upside down

Quite like this one

Neat "The Who" piece. Classic!

Even though it's an autopen, it still makes a decent display.

I still do and will continue doing so. Like to keep it simple so that the matting doesn’t take away the focus from the autographs.
