Boris Karloff the name is enough to send chills down the spine in a way that William Henry Pratt does seem able to.  He was born in England in 1887 and died in 1969.  Of all the great horror actors without doubt he had the longest, most varied and successful career.  Lugosi and Chaney, Jr. were sadly often typecast or even overlooked.  Karloff had the ability to play not only horror but drama and comedy as well.  Karloff created the role of Frankenstein's Monster in three movies: Frankenstein (1931), The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and Son of Frankenstein (1939).  He also portrayed the mad doctor Niemann in House of Frankenstein.  He also starred in The Mummy (1932).  Boris Karloff appeared as the Chinese detective "Mr. Wong" in a series of four movie in answer to the popular Charlie Chan series.  Karloff actually appeared in Charlie Chan at the Opera in 1936.  In 1939 he starred with Basil Rathbone and Vincent Price in The Tower of London.  He appeared in two of the Abbott and Costello comedy thrillers Abbott and Costello Meet the Killer (1949) and Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1953).  Perhaps his most lasting legacy was as the voice/narrator of the Dr. Seuss classic cartoon How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966).  This is a cut signature from a 1930s album page I got from Classic Entertainment Autographs:
