STUDY: Jerry Lee Lewis - TTM real or not real

Steve asked me to start a new thread since some were having a lot of issues with regards to whether or not the through the mail autographs of Jerry Lee Lewis are real or not. I will post some examples of what we have been getting recently and some know in person examples. These TTM signatures are not cheap. You have to pay $50 for them to his box office box. The question is are they real or not. Roger has said that he has never seen Mr. Lewis sign this way and it looks to perfect - like a woman's signature.

Please post your thoughts here and examples.

The photograph resides in a library collection, but there any evidence that JLL actually signed this?

Someone could donate a secretarial signed photo to the collection.

I wish there was better evidence on these, but I’m unconvinced on many of the TTMs and other exemplars in this thread.

Yep. As I wrote, the exemplars being used are corrupted. Some unknown guy saying he got it in person is not a verified exemplar IMO.

So the only exemplars we can use are those with photo proof or that were obtained IP or come from a highly trusted in-person collector?

That really doesn’t provide any additional evidence. It’s fairly common for artist representatives to claim their secretarial autographs are authentic.

When you consider the lengths they supposedly went to in order to cover up the sale of secretarial signatures, a COA would mean absolutely nothing.

I think my concern is that the loopy r and the y where the tail goes all the way back to the J, the full formation of all letters, and the lack of slant and shakiness don’t look like verified in person examples from any era.

He’s an older man coming off a relatively severe stroke. Even before the stroke, his signature was messy and shaky.
One never knows, but I’m not convinced that Jerry Lee signed your book.
