Had this one checked out by Roger Epperson who said it looks fine . Then it failed a Beckett quick opinion …I’ve previously had one failed by Beckett’s full inspection that Roger has guaranteed is genuine along with many other reliable people .

my question is has anyone else had bad experiences with Buckley and Beckett ?

Obviously I value Roger’s experience and opinion in music over there’s .

on this one .

well yes , it was a quick opinion .

Roger has offered to do a full cert on this one but I’ve been skeptical due to sending overseas .

He offered a full cert without seeing it in person first?

Reading back through the correspondence he said he can’t due to me being in the UK and he doesn’t deal overseas . But from what I gathered he was willing to providing it was hand signed .
Im considering sending them to a friend and then having them send it to him .

always gives me an uneasy feeling when a company denies it on full inspection .

That being said there were two authentications there that day and one wanted to pass it and the other (Grad) rejected it .

Best to self educate and do the work yourself. No one will care about your graphs more than you.

Beckett's quick opinion. I bet they get it wrong 50% of the time, therefore, you may as well flip a coin.

Agree with all of the above about quick opinions.  Still, for many buyers there is a certain kind of "legitimacy" that a piece suddenly has if it passes even a quick opinion.

A time or two I have sold something after recommending a potential buyer submit it for a quick opinion and it came back favorable.

I think it’s more piece of mind .

I never base the authenticity completely on the quick opinion but use it as a basis of whether to buy an item .

then I’d take up the full certification option .

With Beckett they’ve denied that many of my items that have since been passed.

It’s a funny old game .

...I never base the authenticity completely on the quick opinion but use it as a basis of whether to buy an item ....

Well...if you are buying from Quick Opinions you are doing yourself a disservice IMO. They are often rendered in seconds.

Generally Beckett will not pass your autographs with their quick opinion especially if it is a rare and high value items. That is my opinion.

According to my experience you are on target J.Seah. A poor business practice though. When I request a quick opinion I am trying to decide if it's worth the big dollars to send it in. Seems they lose a lot of potential business that way. I guess they are making all the money they want and don't need the extra dollars.

Etienne, no, we can't but I seriously doubt it. Quick Opinions are rendered at a glance - I don't think any more than 30 seconds or so it spent. To speak again to your other post our members opinions are often based on much more than that, often with a specialization in the area in question - Ballroom & Fab for Beatles/Morrison, Eva and Pauline with Marilyn, me with Gleason/Bowie etc. so there is a difference.
