Mob$ster,
I hate to say it but if that's the story you're getting you've gotta really question the old man you're buying from. Sharpie or any marker signatures weren't seen much until the later-80s and beyond and for an elderly gentleman who collected since he was a kid to have so many Sharpie autographs of vintage stars is the biggest, brightest red flag you could imagine.
Sharpies were used primarily for utility, like writing your kid's name on their underwear, quick signs, file boxes, etc. They were considered ugly and undesirable until about 30 years ago.
For a word with but two letters "if" is HUGE!
+1 re Sharpies.
Mob$ter - This might sound strong, but in my opinion that elderly gentleman that you keep referencing has taken you to the cleaners with this material that you've posted. I'd begin the process of returning each an every one of them and systematically seeking refunds due what appears to be out an out forgery. It's sad. The material you have shown us is not even mistaken secretarial singings.
If he exists...Sorry Mob$tser but your presentation has been very poor. You avoid questions as well.
Something is amiss in all of this. It's odd to me that Mob$ter names Steve as the person who turned him on to this site on his My Page, where he says he is an Advanced Collector. And I keep thinking of the vast ocean between the Macca and say the Gish.
A self proclaimed Advanced Autograph Collector who shows a Macca (or thinks he does) and doesn't know what it is? Orson Welles would say "This is XXXX, you know that."
Your chain yanking Mob$ter. It's not even cleverly concealed.
Why didn’t you just say Paul McCartney instead of being rude about it.
Because it is not believable to me that an Advanced Collector who lists Music twice among his interests doesn't know who Macca is. I find it insulting and ridiculous. You researched your "McCartney" and have not run into that moniker?
PS - Not rude, simply incredulous that you'd reveal your hand like that.
Mob$ter,
Look at the top right edge of the scan. The actual photo wasn't laying flat and straight on the screen as you can see at top, and the area under "Best" and "Temple Black" is raised above the glass, which is why the background isn't showing.
Yet the autograph does not show any distortion and it doesn't look low-quality like the photo.
Possibly a very poorly made copy photo like some of the others he has posted could explain the appearance of a curved margin and presence of flat writing?
Steve - I’m not sure what you mean? The photocopy is 8.5x11 and I put it inside a plastic sleeve I took the picture with my phone….
