I know many members here enjoy to display their matted pieces on their walls. Do you prefer to feature the same matting colors for a consistent look or prefer various color matting based on the piece? Also, do you use the same frame style for your pieces?

I started matting a long time ago by matching the colors to the piece I was framing.. as soon as I had around 10 frames, it started to bug me how they were all mismatched with each other.
Ive since abandoned all framing and now store them with acid free protection in binders. This way, I can go through them all whenever I want and my Wife says happy not having to look at celebrities all the time
If you are asking to help decide what to do for your own collection, id say it just depends on how many you would want framed and how close they will be to each other once on the wall.
I also do my own matting and always matted using colors which I thought matched well with the piece. I have too many to display them all but have begun to think that using the same mat colors would give a better "on wall" appearance.
I do currently mat all my pieces the same overall size so it would be easy to rotate the collection using a set number of frames.
I appreciate your input Jason H.
I'd not miss the opportunity for expression. No mat color will work well with all peices unless you use black or something - and that would create uniformity. Eyes across a room will be confronted by a bunch of black. It's possible two mat colors, one dark and one light, might be able to get a good "wall appearance" without making it generic (light neutral grey and a darker may of the same color). That might work well.
I was thinking some items, paerhaps the darker ones, might need a large light grey mat with a black trim and others the opposite. They'd go well with other, have variety and still achieve a good "wall appearance".
