I find it very disrespectful and degrading to ask a celebrity for their signature. I would never be able to do that.

Maybe if he just said "come on, please" just one more time.. haha thats crazy. Ive moved to a rural area and my in-person graphs are non existent these days. Even if I traveled to NY in hopes of getting someone like clapton, I still have enough sense that if I ask once, and I know he heard me, his mind is already made up. Im not going to destroy the experience by harassing

I have no problem going up to a celebrity and asking for an autograph. I look at this way, during Covid these entertainers weren’t even deemed essential personnel but normal people like my wife and I were. People like us made society “run”, these entertainers are just that entertainers, they are suppose to take our mind off our troubles.

While I do understand what you're saying, I think it's a very superficial way to look at it. In the end, these artists are tied to our culture and narrative, and we need them as much as they need us. Both us and them make society "run".
I choose to be a working class engineer instead of being a musician, but I'd never have gone to where I am in life without the music that saved me and helped me redeem myself through the various problems and turmoil that I have experienced in the 'real world'.

Sports market was the first and most extreme case here - that started getting out of control as far back as the 90s and now it's beyond stupid. 10+ years ago, most con guests offered pretty reasonable prices for autographs, and you could leave those events with a ton of great stuff and a relatively modest dent in the band account. Now those opportunities are someone rarer. I'm happy that music is my primary interest - in general, not just collecting - because from a fan and collector's standpoint, this seems to represent.such a good situation. At least for now.

They did it once via official website with wasting light album, very rare, fortunate enough to own one, was limited to 500 worldwide

I got dave grohl book signed but really wanting the whole band signatures.Love the foo fighters and nirvana to me changed music as a teen in the 90s

In general, I think it's very cringey to come up to a celebrity and force him to sign your stuff. I totally understand Dave Grohl on why his refused to sign for those autograph hounds.
I also remember back when I was watching some videos on Billie Eilish, there was one video on YouTube where she was surrounded by those autograph hounds, and when she ignored them, these pigs started shouting 'boooo' and being disgusting a*******.
I love me some merch but I definitely agree with the celebs that they should be respected and they don't owe anything to anyone in these cases.
