I’m trying to find out how much my Harry Truman autograph is worth

Hello

Can anyone help me authenticate my Truman autograph?

Authentic. All in his hand. Dated as President. --- Herman Darvick

Rather than me answering for 'what I am saying' (as I don't believe my further thoughts would necessarily be valued here) can you perhaps instead ask Mr. Darvick to address the apparent concerns on the OP's Truman piece?  Three specific questions were posed above.  I'd certainly appreciate a fuller discussion of that (perhaps could learn more about his signing habits).

Herman is a specialist. His valued response, which I wrote and asked for the other night(?), is enough for me in this context. If he wishes to go into detail that would be great! I'm very happy he did respond. My concerns were listed and shown. I will work out what I got wrong with more exemplars and continued observation. Thank you so very much.

Thank you for all your help and insight.

You are very welcome. I was wrong, but my intentions were good :-)

You're welcome, Monica.   I enjoyed this thread.  During a period when I was teaching some focused American history, our students especially enjoyed looking at images of signed Presidential documents.  I thought the documents helped to tell the story of the history they signified.  It was also the autograph geek in me coming out!  Truman signed pieces were a special favorite since he was from our neighboring state of Missouri.

would you happen to know about WW1 memorabilia?

ebay sometimes has quite a lot of nice ww1 memorabilia. for sale

eBay does have tons of amazing WWI memorabilia for sale at any given time, for sure.  However, the reproductions selling as real are even more rampant than fake autographs on there.  I have an interest in WWI trench art.  Quite a bit of it on eBay looks to have been knocked together recently in somebody's back shop (even down to applying artificial patina!).   Just like autographs, it's really important to know what you are doing.

Thank you

Should mention that, in regard to the value of the item, there are dealers who specialize in this kind of historical presidential material.  One of the best is Rick at  www.historyinink.com  who has a focus on Truman.

  • Thank you, I will check him out.
