It's also an unusual version of his signature, I believe.   I've personally never seen him sign "Jim".

I was thinking the same thing, that's why I wasn't sure if it was authentic.

"Jim" is not common, but also not unheard of. Here are a few examples spanning decades. His handwriting evolved in later years. The top is a later example... the second one is early and the last one is somewhere in between.
