I’m wondering if anyone has had this experience with a Sharpie on paper? I recently sent in original artwork to a Nicolas Cage signing and I got an ink blot back on the signature. At this point I consider the piece ruined and it is kind of gutting, to be honest. I thought Sharpies were reliable? (Sorry for the image on its side, I’m having difficulty editing from my phone)
I think you are worrying too much. A blob like that is human and inclined to happen in real life. A forger would probably trash such a created item as a "failure" as it isn't perfect.
It actually lends a degree of respectability to your piece (i.m.h.o.).
That being said I do not know his autograph - speaking generally.
The autograph is good. It was done through Celebrity Authentics recently and is the first time I think Cage has ever done a signing. Normally his autograph is just a N and a squiggle. But he actually gave a full "signature" for this signing. For the prices they charged, that was a must.
