I love your Discogs idea. I've been meaning to make a list of my extras somewhere for potential trade talks. I'll have to look into this more. Side note, what happened to newburycomics? I emailed over a year ago asking what has changed and why they don't have as many autograph releases... they replied that nothing changed and they still have many.. They think we are blind? I think it was KD who stated way back before he vanished that it was to do with new rules for charts regarding these inserts but I gave up searching for answers because there's nothing I could do about it regardless.

I think with Newbury they used to seek out getting their stuff autographed so they could have an exclusive. And record companies would comply with them getting a 500/1000 copies instead of probably a hundred to stock the stores. Eventually the record companies figured they could do it themselves. And with them being tightwads they changed the autograph booklets Newbury used to require (that is all they used to sell 10 years ago) and moved on to a cheap artcard. Some eventually figuring out you can sell thousands of extras if you autopen.

Just a heads up Jason, some same titles with different pressing plants, different mastering work, etc will have the exact same UPC Number and Catalog Number on the spine and only the dead wax info will actually identify the proper version of the title. It's not a biggie if the vinyl has been unsealed though. There's not a lot of those but they do exist. Cheers.

Lol. Yeah there were a few so far I spent some time with trying to figure out which version I had. But the newer stuff is a bit easier. When scrolling through the different choices of any given title on Discogs a lot of them will even be listed as coming with an autograph through the bands website or something similar. And unless if you plan on selling it doesn't matter much if you get the exact version. You can just use it as a database for your own personal use.

It can be a bit time consuming to say the least. Some of the newer titles listed with autograph information I had to go against quite a few members for them to add it in, even when the UPC, Catalog # and dead wax info was spot on and also provided visual proof. I'm not sure if it was an ego thing or an unwillingness to modify the listing. Dunno.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I just found the closest one and made notes. The signed Megan Thee Stallion record I have isn't on there at all. And it doesn't have a number on it whatsoever. So there are a few I am not sure what to do with. Lol.

Thanks for the tip. I have another month before I have more free time and haven't looked deeper at this just yet. Aside from potential trades, one of my goals before the year is over is to be much more organized with my collection and this still seems like a great idea
