I've been very perplexed about this particular piece...it looks like a highly known forgery that had been slabbed by PSA but if it was a full sized photo may have never passed PSA Authentication ???? Am I the only one who thinks this or am I completely wrong...I'd love your thoughts for my own sanity because this looks nothing like authentic examples whatsoever...Thank You...

That's certainly a common known forgery style.

How confident are you that the slab is real? Forgers may take a known "Good" certification number and then make fake slabs containing fake signatures and/or cards.

In any case, the signature in this photo is not authentic.

I notice PSA only authenticated the card, so technically they're correct that it's a genuine card. But the card itself contains a forged signature. So the blame falls on Upper Deck, I suppose. Turtles all the way down.

I recall dozens of instances where PSA has only graded the card, but didn't cert the autograph.

Here's an example below:

Incredible. In addition to the Koufax,  do you know of any others? Might be helpful to log them here for folks on the forum. I feel really bad for anyone who got stuck with one of these. I'm generally in support of the big three TPAs, but this is ridiculous.

I have emailed PSA numerous times to make them aware of this situation and they don't care.  They will acknowledge any of this.

It’s obvious that the crooks have figured out a loophole in their continued effort to cheat people.

Wow. That one is so bad.

I will say that at first glance it looks like a forgery, especially the c.  But, there are a few areas that look good.

After 35 years of collecting and studying Mantle, everything about this resembles a known forgery style to me. I count seven anomalies, which is well beyond my tolerance.

If the owner finds joy in owning this piece, more power to them.
