Hi there folks,

I’ve had this Cass Elliot signature for well over 30 years, however I’m not sure of its authenticity when compared to known examples. Any help would be appreciated. If it is genuine I would be interested in selling the piece. Thanks.

I haven’t spent much time on Mamas and the Papas autographs, but the “E” certainly looks odd with the extra loop.

I believe this is a forgery.  There are many parts of this that do not resemble authentic signatures.

This presents poorly. IMO it looks exactly like what I believe it is. A poor attempt on a slip of paper. What Ballroom points out is very salient. Steve too.

Still would be curious about who issued what appears to be the corresponding LOA folded underneath.  That's always of interest for me when available, even if just for the sake of curiosity.

Thanks to all for your helpfulness. Sent over images of the original COA I received when I purchased it from another dealer decades ago, though I think it also had another COA which I cannot find. I believe it was purchased at a UACC show way back when. So I think it initially had two COA’s, one was this one, and the other being a UACC dealer’s COA thought I cannot find that other one.

Antiquities? Oh. That does not bode well...

Yes, I had it for so long, and never thought to utilize comparative exemplars, as I’ve always been a novice in the hobby. I kind of relied on the dealer more so then using due diligence. But just to reiterate I’m pretty certain that originally had two separate COA’s, as I’m pretty sure I purchased it in a UACC show held in NYC in the 1990’s.

That can be said of a lot of material, some of which might not be any good now. I would never touch anything connected to Antiquities (of Ca). To confirm, you are speaking of Antiquities of Ca.?, yes?

I believe it’s Georgia, and the Carolinas. So I guess they had several locations.

I do not know if they were connected. It is important in this context IMO. Perhaps Steve Cyrkin will know?

There is no contact info on that cert? What is on the top of the certificate?
