I have to find my Newhart book, photos and checks.  These are not mine but from Worthpoint.  The one is a check signed as "George R. Newhart" and one as "Bob Newhart."

Delighstil exemplars, thank you. Did his "a" always match his "o's" as in the first?

Note the "o" in The "Bob" below it - that Typical, consistent? Or some revision/other version? The "Newhart" is very consistent.

His signature was very consistent at least on the yellow checks that were from 1973.  He apparently always did "Gearge." I do not ever recall seeing "Bab" though it is usually "BoB."  I suspect because he had to do the "r" it looked that way.   Even with slight variations later on in "Bob" the Newhart always is easy to spot.  Here are three other George checks from Worthpoint. I have one and a couple "Bob" ones I will need to find. Also a couple photographs and the Easton Press book.

Here are from his 2006 book.  I wonder if the middle one was early in his signing day note the "h" compared to the last yellow check.  Just looks like a more relaxed less hurried signature.

I see, Perhaps.Thank you.

I meant perhaps vintage as you suggested.

A comedic genius and a class act.... Sometime around 1980 I purchased some things he donated to a charity auction and this was his reply to a thank you note that I sent to him.  A handwriting example for what it's worth.... :)

Definitely a class act and always good to his fans.

Somewhere I have a signed photo I received after writing to him years ago during the time one of his shows was on the air.   I was skeptical at the time that it could be authentic but it matched perfectly to later autographs obtained when he wasn't doing a hit TV series.

Still, Bob Newhart is a very sore subject for me, not because of anything he did but because of my own procrastination.

Early in his career he developed a skit where he would be having a conversation with soneone on the telephone.   I always thought it would be neat to get him to autograph a receiver/handset.  I finally got serious about it and bought a brand new one off ebay and sent it to him.  I would later find out that this all happened right as he was ending his TTM replies due to health issues.  I probably missed it by several weeks.

I knew he was in serious decline over a year before he passed away because when I wrote to his office just to confirm that they had received my package, they wrote back to tell me that they had received it but he would not be able to sign it, and that they'd be returning it to me at some point (which they did).
