I am now very comfortable that this was indeed signed by Joan Crawford. Are there any other opinions? They would be most appreciated :-)
It looks to be the same hand to me.
Thank you so much Scott. I know that was a long read and I appreciate your taking the time. I agree - same hand.
As I've said in every comment, enjoy your purchase! The most important person to be convinced is yourself.
I'm just more cautious than most with Crawford. I'd want things like the "J pinchers" and the "jutting lower f".
Perhaps I'm overly cautious. I've just seen too many secretarial patterns over the decades. Probably why I don't deal in her material much these days.
Heck, even largest online site of Joan's correspondence has it wrong in places.
So you don'r nail this as a secretarial then? Overly cautious I understand, What sets off your "radar?
Thank you for responding Eddy.
Do you see what I and Scott see in the comparison between what you posted and the letter in question? One hand or two?
In my own mind, I'm not sure. Which means I wouldn't deal in it or actively collect it. I don't know how much more clear I can make that.
As far as what gives me pause, the two points I made in my last post, for starters.
I glad you are convinced. I'm glad, as you state, that Scott agrees with you that it's real.
Sounds like a winner all around for you.
Thank you for clarifying that Eddy.
No, Scott agreed that your example is by the same hand that signed my letter.
Eddy, do you have examples of any of these other secretarial styles to show?
